Great atmosphere. Good food.
We recently hosted our wedding reception at Cold Break, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience. From start to finish, Sophie, our coordinator, was absolutely amazing! So easy to work with, incredibly organized, and always quick to answer questions or put our minds at ease. She made the whole planning process seamless.
The food was a huge highlight of the night. We had a mix of apps (buffet style), mains with table service (perfectly cooked steak, salmon, and vegan options), and late-night snacks (sliders, pizza, and more). The kitchen did an outstanding job, and front of house delivered amazing service. Every single guest commented on how delicious everything was, the quality and speed of service were top-notch. For a brewery with a casual vibe, the menu exceeded expectations and truly elevated the evening.
Of course, the beer was fantastic, and the seltzers were a big hit with our crowd too.
On top of that, the Cold Break team handled setup and cleanup beautifully, which gave us more time to actually enjoy our big day instead of worrying about details.
We’re so grateful to Sophie and the entire team for making our wedding reception everything we hoped for and more. We would absolutely recommend Cold Break to anyone looking for an event venue that’s fun, flexible, and delivers an unforgettable experience.
I went to Coldbreak for the firsts time this past week, I had called in advance and had a reservation for the trivia night there. After we were seated it took almost 20 minutes if not longer for our server to even come take our drink orders. People who were arriving after us were getting served and even getting their meals before we had even gotten to finish one drink. I was very disappointed in the service. When we finally did order our food I ordered the pulled pork poutine, while the taste and flavour was not bad, it looked like there was a cup of juice from the meat that was just poured in there and the fries got super soggy pretty quickly.
Bit of a negative review in hopes it will improve.
Briefly, the food is super inconsistent. Used to love the fish taco but they keep messing with them. Last time it was just wet tomatoes dripping out of a soggy tortilla.
Equally annoying is the limited beer selection for a brewery. Used to love Vine Theory but every time it's "a few months out". If you like going to a brewery, you'll be disappointed in their selection.
I ventured to this restaurant with high hopes, having heard that the legendary Big Chick Sandwich still graced the menu, even after the departure of the much-acclaimed Righteous Monger from the kitchen. The menu photos promised a sandwich that would stand the test of time, its greatness unscathed. But alas, the reality was far from the tantalizing images I had imagined.
Trusting the server’s enthusiastic recommendation, I opted for the chicken sandwich, which they assured me would be a worthy successor to the iconic Big Chick. How tragically mistaken I was. The sandwich was a mere shadow of its predecessor—bland, uninspired, and lacking the bold flavors that once defined its fame.
While the service was undeniably friendly, the pace was maddeningly slow, as if time itself had decided to stand still in this place. To add insult to injury, a pricing error left us with a sour taste, one that lingered far longer than any dish could.
Given the overall disappointment, I can't say I will return. However, I will admit that the cherry seltzer offered a fleeting moment of joy in an otherwise underwhelming experience.
Both food and beer are good. There are a few exceptional items on the menu, it's solid without being particularly daring.
Beer is the same, a well made selection of generally crushable beers to meet a range of tastes.
This is local brewpub for me and I used to drop in for beers on their patio regularly. Went back at some point lately, and they'd installed a bunch of televisions along the walls of the (formerly) awesome found/industrial tin shed out back. Completely ruins the feel of the place and creates the usual awful distraction to conversation or enjoying food and drinks with friends.
I'd rate more highly otherwise (food and beer), but I used to recommend this place as probably the best patio in town. Sadly, no more. It's no better than any other place now, that its unique charm is ruined.
Showed up at 7:30 on a Wednesday night… I sat myself at a table waited 15 mins before I got up and went to the bar where I then waited 5 mins while the server finished her text message convo on the phone, to get my first drink, I eventually went outside and waited for my friends to come, after that the service was great but untill then it took awhile
The back patio is a great space and really appreciated the server’s recommendations on the flight. Good beer and vibes.
Myself and 3 friends went here this week and sat on the patio. Server was nice and patio was clean. However the food was disgusting. We ordered the whipped ricotta, nachos with beef and the Italian flatbread. The “whipped” ricotta was as thick as Boursin cheese, and seasoned with mounds of rosemary and nothing else. The chickpeas were stale (not freshly roasted) and we barely ate half. The nachos were average at best, however minimal cheese and covered mounds of lettuce on top (easily half the dish was lettuce). The nachos came with sour cream that was incredibly watery. The Italian flat bread came out as 2 mini microwave pizzas. The bread was so soggy and it was covered in scoops of the exact same cheese from the “whipped” ricotta (equally as firm as the solo dish). The “Italian meat” as the menu stated was a single slice of pepperoni on each slice. This food was awful and we left most of it on the plate. Additionally, one person in our group got a seltzer that left a sour/“gone bad” flavour and metallic. She didn’t finish it either. Complete waste of our money, and all of us went home hungry. Would NOT recommend this place at all. Used to be great…don’t know what happened.
Awesome!?

Good food and generous portions. (Lunch tommorow ?), good variety. Service was good.
Was here last week. Group of four, beers are mediocre at best but the food is something else. All of us had food poisoning afterward. No wonder, look at the Niagara Region web site. This place has failed inspection numerous times. Avoid this place.
Must visit place if you are looking for some great beers and some amazing food. Service was excellent and everything we had was great. The pretzels were standard but the cheese dip was really good. The whipped ricotta was outstanding and something you don’t see often enough. The burger and fries hit the spot and really was cooked perfectly.
Tried them all today. Loved the all. Food was good, service was great. Too bad we could not buy them all.
Service was excellent. Very nice inside. Great beer choices. I had the fish tacos. One of my favs but they came drenched in chopped cucumber which wasn’t in the menu. Had to pick each piece off because I am allergic. Also think the tacos should be flour not corn. Corn tacos don’t hold up to the mixture and disintegrated. But we would try this place again.
