The Fish n Chips is crazy gooood here!

July 3, been a while since grabbing my fav fish on a bun, came to find out it was under new ownership the past 2 years, the owner cooked my meal and I have to say it was absolutely spectacular, im talking deeeeelish, the fries were amazing and the burger a definately huge portion of fish, done to perfection... a solid 10 out of 10. When checking out we chatted about our European adventures....people, don't miss out on a great place for your fish n chips...much success to you 😀 👍

Outstanding fish, house-made tartar sauce. I prefer fresh cut fries but they were still tasty. Owner very friendly, had a lovely chat while my order was cooking.

Finally found our new favourite fish and chip place. The fish is delicious, fresh and big portions. The French fries are crispy and delicious too!! Customer service is great while I was greeted by the owner himself. We recommend this place 100% and will definitely be returning customers!!!! Delicious!!!

First time trying Jmonks. The food tasted great, the portions were a big size and along with extra fries a bonus. Nicely coated fish. Small but quaint.

Absolutely the #1 spot in St.Catharines. Highly recommend!!

Wow has this place gone down hill since new owner took over. No fresh cut fries, now they come from a bag and they have some kind of coating. Yuk. Greasy. I used to get he Halibut but now they only have haddock. Never never again getting fish and chips from here. No coleslaw either.
Gave a 2 out of 5 only because my order was ready when they said it would be. Food was definitely only a 1. If I could give it less I would. DON’T EAT HERE!

ordered fish haddock tonight, it was very good as always but the fish left a bad taste in your mouth. very greasy. Coleslaw always great too

Will have to find a new place.

3 pieces of haddock with fries was a HUGE disappointment.
The fries are now the gross, frozen, battered type. We got a handful of fries with pur fish, which is nothing compared to the box-full of fresh cut fries that used to come with 3 pieces of fish.
The fish was tough and overcooked. There was way too much batter, and it was terrible.
The large coleslaw is small compared to before. It was mediocre in taste.
The fried pickles were obliterated, just an overfried mess.
All of this was prepared by the owner as my husband waited.

We started coming here 7 years ago, and it was a staple for us. It just isn't the same anymore, it is poorly prepared, with the owner just not caring about the quality at all.

J Monks has been my go to spot for years. Through multiple owners - it's remained consistent for their level of service and quality.

Even after a few months hiatus - I walked in and the owner greeted me as if I was an old friend; and remembered my usual order.

Out of every spot in Niagara - I'll never stop coming here.

Their poutine is the best in the region.

Took my mother for fish & chips & we were greeted warmly by a very handsome man, who cooked us some really fantastic fish & chips. We were both very happy, fantastic place, would definitely visit again.

If I had any comments to make at all, was that the tartar sauce they gave us, was super thin & watery. The taste was ok, but we both thought it was entirely too thin. This could be personal preference, but we've always had nice & thick tartar sauce. This was closer to water than it was to mayo consistency.
