Came here on Christmas Eve with my wife and mother-in-law and had a very disappointing experience. The restaurant was freezing cold — I had to keep my gloves on, my wife wrapped herself in her clothes, and we overheard other tables complaining as well.
Appetizers were underwhelming. The bruschetta had an overwhelming amount of tomato with barely any bread. My scallops were tiny, cold, and nothing like the portions shown in other reviews — I received only three, and they looked cut in half and poorly plated.
After a 45-minute wait, our mains arrived. The gnocchi tasted good but was noticeably smaller than portions shown online. My wife and I began eating, but my mother-in-law’s fish never arrived. Our pizza sat and went cold while we waited. When the server finally noticed, he admitted he had forgotten her order entirely. The fish arrived about 10 minutes later, clearly rushed and poorly prepared, and my mother-in-law couldn’t finish it.
Despite multiple mistakes, nothing was comped — not an appetizer, not drinks, nothing. The lack of accountability and professionalism was very disappointing. This was our first and last visit to Teatro.
Edit: After emailing the general manager, I received an apology and an invitation to return for a better experience — but no compensation. Two weeks earlier at Industria Pizza, when my wife’s steak wasn’t cooked correctly, they immediately remade it, comped our drinks, and gave us two free desserts. That’s how businesses should handle mistakes, not simply apologize and move on.

Sunday night marked our first visit to Teatro, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The food was absolutely delicious — the pasta was perfectly cooked and coated in a rich, flavourful sauce, the salad was crisp and refreshingly fresh, and the desserts were truly outstanding. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated, creating an inviting and elegant atmosphere. The staff were professional, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, which made the evening even more enjoyable. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Teatro and will most definitely be returning.
An expensive let down. The decor and atmosphere was pretty good, but for the number of tables, the service was extremely slow. It took 15-20 mins just for drinks to arrive. And another 15 to get the check once the meal was done. Server was very friendly though.
But the biggest disappointment was the food. While my friends got the gnocchi which they said was very good, another got the pasta and I got the pizza. The sauce was flavourless and very watery. The pizza had a pretty good crust but 0 flavour otherwise. Very very disappointing. An Italian restaurant that can’t do tomato sauce needs to have a serious rethink.

The servers run around. We couldn’t understand what the one server even said he talked to fast.
Even the limoncello was bitter. Looking around many people were not happy.

I tried the restaurant for the first last evening with a groups of friends, I had the Gnocchi which was quite tasty but small. My friends had dishes with red sauce and it was bland and seemed watered down.
Although our server was quite friendly the service was very poor. It took us 20 min to get drinks, there was virtually no follow-up on how the meal tasted with the exception of offering cheese when we were more than 3/4 of the way through. The food came out with large gaps between plates leaving us eating at all different times, we had no drinks for our meals as nothing was offered to be refilled and we had to get up and ask for our bill twice, paying alone was about 25 min.
The place is very well done, nice atmosphere but food and service in my opinion means more. It's really not worth the price.

This is a new chic Italian restaurant in St.Catharines. The decor is fresh and modern, the food and service were excellent. We had the short ribs and fried sea food entres, both were very good. The mixed drinks were excellent.
