The Upper Deck TapHouse + Grill

This is what I consider our neighbourhood restaurant and we normally really like stopping for lunch or dinner. In the summertime, the view on the back patio is great and the service we have received for all of our visits has always been excellent.

Recently they had menu changes (they have done that several times over the years we have been coming) but we weren’t impressed with the changes when we stopped in December. Pretty much all of our favourites were gone and the new items we tried were not good.

My husband had the steak sandwich which was a bit underwhelming - nothing special and served on a hotdog bun (on a good note, I hear they have improved the bread now after all the feedback). He definitely was not impressed with the flavour either.

I am a vegetarian and decided to try their ratatouille and couldn’t really eat more than a few bites - the vegetables tasted bitter and the rice was extremely dry. For a dish that could be so full of flavours this was just a miss for me.

Our favourite dessert from their menu used to be their Oreo cheesecake in a jar, we were told that now is gone and after disappointing meals we just decided not to try another dessert, paid and left.

I want to say we will consider giving it another try as we know how important it is to support our local businesses and perhaps just these particular meal options we tried that evening were not the best. We certainly have had some great meals here. We just hope they take our feedback and go back to offering some stellar meal choices again.

We’ve spent a lot of time at Upper Deck, and it never disappoints. I’ve tried almost everything on the menu at this point, and it’s always been consistently good.

The staff are great, the location is so convenient, and we always end up having a really lovely time when we’re there. It’s one of those places that just works — easy, welcoming, and enjoyable every visit.

All in all a good experience. We had a good sever. Food was very good, only issue was Saturday college football rivalry games and all screens had either Canadian soccer or golf.

We arrived at 4:30pm and it was not busy on Dec 11. The waitress took our order and a man brought our food to the table. Never saw anyone after that. No one asked how things were or if we would like a drink. The waitress was hanging out by the bar. She finally came with our bill and we left cash and left. Never had such bad service and we eat out often. The food was good.

Don't order the Philli cheese steak, came on a hotdog bun, insignificant amount of cheese, tasted okay but was small by any standard. I checked the menu description, it does say it comes on a roll, so I guess a hotdog bun could be considered a roll, but not worth$18.99! None of the overhead TVs ad any sporting events on.

I came here with my friend and her partner as a nice dinner out

Waitress and greeter were so kind to us the entire time we were here there attitude was very positive and friendly

The food was amazing and came out 10-30min after order keep in mind there were other guest there that day so they were a bit busy so to be fair but still good

I feel like the only issue we had was judging from the other guests I feel like when it comes to dinning I feel like maybe if you see other guests staring please just try to shift their focus onto there own food and service if possible

Other then that dessert was amazing we had amazing time the space was amazing and we saw some deer and took some photos

Good service but food was subpar. A phillie cheese sandwich on a hotdog bun wasn’t worth what I paid. Garlic shrimp dish had the driest rice you could imagine. Sorry, not going back

this is my favourite restaurant in St. Catharines. Love the atmosphere (all the windows AND the outdoor seating -- what a setting!) and the foods (grilled vegetable with double chicken!) and the staff are so friendly and attentive!

Great views out the window and staff were overall nice. Not super attentive but checked in here and there. Food was terrible.. I hate to say it but I just wasn’t impressed. Fries were cold and soggy sandwiches were oily and soggy. $8 to add chicken to nachos and it wasn’t super loaded nachos either. Was there in a party of 4 and no one seemed overly impressed with their food. I’m surprised with the high ratings. It was around lunchtime on a Sunday we were there and only a hand full of people in there watching the game. I wish it was better. Maybe it was just an off day for the kitchen but I won’t be going back.
