Bought the family pack and all the fish was really heavily breaded and wet and soggy inside. I’ve ordered from here before and didn’t encounter this problem before. None of us could eat the soggy breading and we had to pick the fish out. Extremely disappointed.

Food was fantastic for fried fish and chips. This is my family's favorite spot in town and the staff are friendly and courteous

I wish I had read the reviews before ordering takeout here. I attended Friday at noon with high expectations of the food as I saw. Newspaper clipping saying this is No. 1 in St Catharines for fish and chips.I, too, was very disappointed in the chips. Overcooked, not crispy and limp. The fish, haddock was better but tasted like they need to change the oil.I would not recommend the food to a friend.

The haddock was fresh and the flavour was good, but a bit mushy from undercooking. The fries were disgusting. They were burnt. Probably refried older fries. I had to throw them out. They were excellent a few months ago. Gross this time. While I'm at it, somebody clean the waiting area!

So last night we'll it was more so around 7pm my husband and myself found our tummies ah Rumbling, we hadn't ate dinner. We were mobile and saw a well known Pizza shop so , that's what we decided it would be. Parked the car, and as we approached the plaza, I smelled this mouth-watering scent of fresh cut fries and succulent chicken of the sea! Union Jack Fish & Chips indefinitely beat out pizza. OK, I'll get to the point of this post, which is my opinion of the whole experience. The woman took our order and answered all the questions. We decided to take it out , but there is a long table seats, roughly 6-8 people. We ordered the Halibut platter. They also serve Cod and Haddock . The Halibut Plater includes 2 lrg pieces of halibut 3 scallops and 3 medium-sized shrimp on a bed of fresh cut fries as well a side of coleslaw and of course a lemon wedge. The order maybe took 15 minutes. The fish was absolutely delicious, cooked just right because for a seafood lover, there's nothing worse than dry overdone fish .It was nice and juicy inside, not too much batter and the taste auuhhhh Superb! The scallops are a bit small, but the sweet flavor made up for that. The shrimp was sweet and flavouful, and I found my hubby and I splitting the last one. Now the fries, I hate to say this but not that great. They were really dark color . Most were smaller than my pinky finger, and flavor tasted like burnt oil. Now we went there pretty close to closing time. When I think of how tasty everything else was, I can't imagine the fries being like that on a regular basis. With that said, I will definitely give them another try along with other seafood dishes they offer. The takeout comes packed with forks +napkins. The tartar sauces and other condiments are on the counter as a self serve , I like that because no matter whether I ask for Xtra tartar I never seem to get the amount I like. One thing I thought the platter was missing was seafood sauce for my shrimp and scallops, but that's a personal preference. With a 15% tip(takeout), our bill came to 45.00. 1 Platter split for 2 adults, and I couldn't finish my piece of fish. We have spent this price many times before. When we were done, we were looking at one another like "OK hun what's for dinner?" Nothing worse than paying for a meal, and you're left feeling hungry and unsatisfied. This was not the case here. This was almost all around 2? like I said previously, I believe because we came so close to closing time, ultimately, was the reason fries were, in my opinion, not good. I recommend trying this " catch" of a restaurant. They even offer a discount on ordering their takeout online. I'd catch that deal before it swims away.

Food was awesome. I'm a very picky eater, especially when it comes to fish. The halibut was cooked to perfection. Not even a slight hint of fishyness. Proprietor was friendly and welcoming. I drove 20 mins to get to this place based on other Google reviews, and I was not disappointed. Give this place a try.Dietary restrictions: Gluten-free option available.

Ordered haddock and sweet potato fries and a side of coleslaw. Also ordered mozzarella sticks, it didn't come with ANY dipping sauce. I assumed that it would come with marinara sauce like most other restaurants. When I called them, they said that they don't have marinara, they usually serve it with ranch dip but I didn't even get that. Manager was not helpful at all and they didn't offer anything for the trouble or the waste of money. The fish and fries were very good though.

I've been here once a few years ago. Not much has changed. The dining room has one table that seats 5. It's mostly take away business at this location. I ordered the Thursday promo - one piece of fish and chips. It was OK but as previous lacked the British taste. It included a very small cole slaw, about four bites worth. Fish and chips were not hot yet they just came out of kitchen. The man at the counter charged me more than the Thursday special but I couldn't be bothered saying anything as it was only about 75cents. Even so, how could they not get the price right? The place is OK but it will likely be another 8 years before I come back.

Except for your fish dinner not being wrapped in newspaper, this place is just about everything you would expect from a carryout "chippy". Lots of selections on the menu with big pieces of fresh fish fried up and served hot from the fryer. There's a small table with six chairs for those wishing to eat indoors.
