Alla’s Ukrainian Pierogies & More

My mom and I stumbled on this gem while visiting friends in Strathroy and the food was delicious! We stopped in for breakfast and it was amazing! Delicious eggs & bacon, light and fluffy pancakes with real maple syrup, fresh fruit and toast. A perfect cappuccino completed the meal. The staff was warm and friendly and very helpful in accommodating some small changes to our order. Highly recommend and can’t wait to try the pierogies next time!

Was in Strathroy on 15th. Friends who know I have a Ukrainian background, suggested I check out Alla's.

Found it to be a nice quaint little establishment on Frank Street. Unfortunately, the day I shopped there the POS was down and didn't get a receipt, but I got a copy of their leaflet to compare prices.

Pricing is a bit higher than expected for frozen product. 3 x 400 gm at Costco is $12.99. At Alla's it is $12.99 to $15.99 per 400 gm bag. Ukrainian Homemade Food in Aylmer is $2.50 per 100 gm.

Storage in a standup freezer with shelving would be a nice touch, instead of rooting around over a chest freezer. Alla's frozen products are available in seven other locations in the region.

Based on price and small business I was expecting an authentic texture and taste but after preparing my selection of perogies, they just didn't seem like they were from the old country/ grandma's kitchen. Maybe the one's prepared for dining in are more tasty??

The frozen chicken and borscht soups I purchased were really nice. Unfortunately, the cabbage rolls I found to be a bit bland, was expecting a bit more dill, tomatoe sauce was spot on.

Do you have expiry dates for your frozen goods, as I didn't see one on the perogies or soup?

Overall, a quaint little shop. Pricing is a bit more than expected for frozen, but dining prices are very competitive with neighbouring cultural restaurants.

Absolutely drool worthy food. We stumbled upon this and are so glad we went to eat. The pierogies and cabbage rolls were the most delicious thing I've put in my mouth in a while. 10 out of 10 would eat here again!!

My family and I liked this restaurant very much. We had borscht, perogies, cabbage rolls, sauerkraut. Everything was delicious. We enjoyed chatting with the owner too.

Hidden gem. We were just travelling through the area. Found this restaurant on Google Maps. Very tasty Pierogies and cabbage rolls. Good portion sizes and a fair price. Alla the owner was very welcoming.

We enjoyed the potato bacon pierogies, at least the few that our kid let us have. They loved it. The cabbage rolls held together nicely and were great! The cherry pierogies were also a hit. We had a box of rogalik that we also enjoyed, to cap off our visit. Would highly recommend!

We stopped by for lunch and had a great experience. Alla was super friendly and accommodating. We ordered the pierogi and cabbage roll combo with a side of sauerkraut. Everything was fantastic, very fresh and flavourful, especially the house-made sauerkraut.

Just visited this lovely restaurant with my wife and daughter, food is so tasty and very authentic to Ukraine, we all loved it and Alla is such a great host with a great sense of humour. Zaydem skoro poest i zaodno “pochesat “ yziki. All the best!
