Everything looks, and smells delicious from the drinks to the bread. The highlight was the Portuguese tart. Tried one and ended up leaving with a dozen. The second it touches your lips, you realize you are tasting something special. We got them right as they restocked their tray and within a couple minutes the tray was pretty much empty, they must be their best seller and with very good reason.
They have a massive selection of sweets and their sandwiches look like they would be delicious. Anytime I am in Strathroy, I will be stopping in to get some.

We stopped in for a sweet treat. I enjoyed the tart i ordered, and my friends enjoyed their Danish pastry as well.
My friends also ordered coffee and were a bit disappointed that there was no cream.
I was surprised to find out that they only take cash or debit.

Absolutely delicious. Very tasty baked goods, best custard-filled donut I ever had. Custard tart was also very nice. I highly recommend this bakery as a destination for fresh pastries. Service was terrible, bratty teenaged girls with huge egos too busy primping with zero concept of customer service of any sort, whether it’s waiting tables, bringing food out or cashing a customer out. Anywhere else and this trio would’ve been fired. So be warned about being served if you plan to sit down and enjoy with a coffee. One teenaged boy was busy picking up the slack for all of them - a bossy girl picked a fight with snarky remarks at a customer who paid but never got their coffees while the other girls just didn’t bother taking care of customers at all. It’s a large space with lots of seating but the bad service is a spectacle. The atmosphere would’ve been better if the girls working there treated customers better. Sandwiches are mediocre, chicken BLT was seasoned nice but very dry and tuna was spiced nicely but a little sparse on the bun. Sandwiches are served on fresh warm bread, which is very nice. I recommend sticking to the pastries, which are fantastic. The fresh baked goods make Artes Bakery absolutely worth the trip, whether it’s a day trip to Strathroy for something to do, to buy fresh pastries for the home or to bring a box as a guest to a dinner party. The poor service is a spectacle of circumstance so take it with a grain of salt with no expectations and you’ll enjoy the visit for the pastries alone.

The food was great. Not sure if they are all made in house. I should have asked. Service was also good. 😊 the only problem was, they don’t accept credit. It could possibly be my mistake, but I didn’t notice any signs that say they don’t accept credit. A sign would have been nice. But everything else was great.

Wanted to buy bread from a Portuguese bakery, so I found them on Google. It was a busy morning, 3 tables were occupied by some gentlemen who were enjoying their coffee. Another table had 2 toddlers with their parents.
Ordered coffee, it was great!
Then we chose our pastries, most of them were taken home.
Be prepared with cash or debit payment only.
On the way out, I asked for a plastic bag coz I had to carry 3 boxes and another bag of bread. One small plastic bag costs 10 cents and it can only accommodate one small box.

The one star is because I had to leave a star. I cannot begin to describe terrible experience my sisters and I had. We arrived to a very empty bakery. We are planning to have lunch and enjoy some coffee and desserts as well. As we ordered our meats the restaurant started to get a bit busy. The unprofessional young girl working behind the counter, took 25 minutes per person to cut 2 pounds of cold cuts. We all remain patient. She did not. The Disorganized manner they deal with serving each person is ridiculous. There is no order others after us were served. As the other workers helped others that arrived after us, we still remained patient. After one year we returned as we tried to give them a second chance thinking is was maybe a one off. Today we experienced the exact same. This time we decided to leave after our first order. After waiting, she served everyone that came after us. This bakery is unprofessional is run by teenagers without any customer service experience judging by what we experienced this past two times. Her condescending tone and bad attitude will be sure to drive good customers away. Good luck. You lost seven customers today. We went around the corner and had a variety of choices in bakeries with better customer service.
Best Portuguese tarts 👍
