Great beer, amazing staff and fantastic food!! We’ll definitely make the trip again:)
food is amazing! I live in tavi and I'm pumped to have such incredible food just down the street. you really can't go wrong with a single thing on the menu! I recommend the large beer flight to get a sense for what flavour you enjoy most. happy hour is one of my fav's even tho I'm not a beer drinker, but my wife, an avid beer drinker, loves them all. For me, liquor is my preferred drink and all the premium whiskey selections are top notch! highly recommended.
As a foodie, Mad Mash had me licking my chops and wanting more. I had the smash burger with onion jam and a side of Celtic spring rolls! YUM! While the food was delish, the quality of service depends on who is working, unfortunately! The atmosphere has potential for sure but when we walk in at dinner time on a Saturday night, lower those bright lights and have some tunes playing to create the right “out on the town” vibes! I definitely will be returning as I’m certain these quirks are being worked out and they have plans to expand their activities and community engagement too! Love that! Go check it out!

All beers were sour. Beer selection was horrible. Only had 4 beers on tap.
Server was the cook and cleaning his sweat while serving. Also, asked for tasting of beers and was charged $3.50 each… I also order full beers after the testers so I wasn’t sitting there having testers.

If there was an ability to add an extra star, I would.
My fiancé and I got nachos to split and burgers each. The Nachos were LAYERED and AMAZING, they did Nachos right and I will forever compare every restaurants Nachos to those.
Burgers, holy Moses. The burgers were phenomenal. The biggest issue my Fiancé has with burgers is they're too dry or there isn't enough toppings/sauces on it. This evening was the first time in a while he actively talked about how much he enjoyed the burger and wishes he got a second one.
The beer I had was fantastic! My favorite was the Red ale (I could be so wrong, but it was fantastic) it was smooth, it had this fruity sweetness to it almost, it was flavourful and that is going to be my go to drink when I go next.
Service was fantastic, I have no issues. The gentleman was incredibly kind and I feel kind of rude that I didn't remember his name, and I believe he was also the chef it looked like (another instance I could be wrong)
Regardless. This place has a fantastic environment with games, excellent customer service (outstanding when you realize this an operation that runs with an incredibly incredibly small team from what I've heard) fabulous fantastic food, and I got to watch the Jay's game as we ate.
Highly recommend and next time I plan on bringing some friends. SO glad this place is so close to home!

Great menu with interesting choices including haggis. Food was excellent. Heard many positive comments at our table. Love that the food served supports local businesses. One guy did it all - took the orders, prepared the food, was the waiter and ran the till. Talk about multi tasking. As a result, patience is a virtue since the service was slow. Will be back.

Tried the nachos and they were delicious with generous cheese, sour cream and salsa. The beer we had was very good too. Wonderful staff made us feel welcome.

We went to Madmash for lunch on a Monday. It was quiet but the food was good and plentiful. Once we made an effort to talk to the waiter he was very pleasant and talkative. It is a hidden gem IMHO.

Great place- super friendly and fantastic beer. Didn’t try the food, but we will definitely be back again - a real gem in downtown Tavistock. Really friendly people who share their passion for brewing and local traditions. Recommend.

My husband and I enjoy exploring craft breweries and went to Madmash today for lunch. This new(ish) brewery has been open since December 2023 and we were intrigued by their Scottish food menu.
I had a small flight (x3) of their Stoutastic stout, Foggy Dayz Hazy IPA and their Pineapple Gingy sour. The Hazy IPA was my fav. I enjoyed the subtle ginger taste of the sour but found the stout to be too smokey for my taste.
We each ordered a large pie which consisted of two smaller pies and 2 side dishes (the small pie option is a single pie and one side dish). We had the Buffalo chicken pie, two steak and stout pies and a chicken pot pie which were very tasty if a bit small for the price (each the size of a medium sized muffin).
This is a nice stop in the small town of Tavistock, about 15 minutes south of Kitchener. Friendly and attentive service, tasty food and good beer selection.

Flew up from Florida, was looking for a local brewery and found Madmash. Absolutely amazing service, both owners were awesome and took their time to talk about the history and story of the brewery. Food was amazing, made in house and tasted incredible!! Will be back!
