5 Star, no questions asked. Chef was super nice, and talked with us throughout our dinner. His wife is a very talented artist with many beautiful pieces displayed, and the food was reasonably priced and absolutely amazing. This is a place you want to come at least once, for either lunch or dinner at Blue mountain. Lovely people and great food.

I was genuinely impressed with the quality of this sushi restaurant. The fish is always fresh, cut perfectly, and served at the right temperature, which really makes a difference. The rice is seasoned just right — not too vinegary, not too plain — and it holds together beautifully without being too heavy.
The presentation of each dish shows real care and attention to detail, almost like a piece of art. I especially recommend trying the chef’s special rolls and sashimi sets; they never disappoint and often introduce something unique that I wouldn’t normally try.
Beyond the food, the service is consistently excellent. The staff are warm, attentive, and always make you feel welcome without being overbearing. The restaurant itself is clean, comfortable, and has a calm atmosphere that works whether you’re dining alone, on a date, or with family.
Overall, this place has become one of my top choices for sushi — it combines quality, service, and value in a way that’s hard to beat. Highly recommended!

We should have read the reviews before picking this place since it looks like a somewhat similar experience happened to previous customers before. Basically, it is not a family friendly place and the old chef seems racist since he was asking about our cultural background during the argument and telling us that this not “our home” multiple times.
I admit that part of it was also our fault since our two year old kid flipped or hit the soy sauce cup that caused a ding* sound, which triggered the whole incident. I should’ve put the cup much farther away from my kid. However, the way he handled the situation was rude. He shouted at our kid right away after playing with the cup and then towards my family. We felt uncomfortable and apologized, but he kept talking bad which escalated the incident further. The cup is not broken or anything and if it did break, we would’ve paid for it…Overall, a terrible experience especially for the kids.

Very very disappointing experience at this restaurant that we don’t recommend it to anyone. We came with our 2-year-old and instead of being treated with patience, the staff actually yelled at our child for playing with the soy sauce cup. On top of that, they told us our order was for take-out, yet served us miso soup in chinaware instead of to-go containers. We were even charged for the miso soups, which we couldn’t properly enjoy because of the way we were treated.
The server and the chef were not welcoming, and their communication with customers was poor. They kept saying “it’s not your home” and kept asking us where we are from. Overall, we left feeling uncomfortable and disrespected. Definitely not a family-friendly place and we won’t be coming back.

I don’t get the hate for this place in some of the reviews. I eat sushi often, and visit Kikaku Sushi once or twice a year while in Blue Mountain for a conference. I have never been disappointed.
A few reviews mention “rude” or “disrespectful” service. I think that certain people are misinterpreting what might be a no-frills service from a family from a different culture whose first language is not English as “rude” when it is not rude at all. I have always found the staff kind, polite, and eager to please. Maybe some people love a bubbly or more interactive service… but if you’re like me and eat food for the flavour and calories, and want to get in and out quick, you will appreciate this place.
Is it the best sushi I have ever had in my life? Not quite, but I would still rate it as excellent. The fish is fresh, the service is fast, and the prices are very reasonable, especially for a resort town. This place is a great alternative to all the pub food you’ll find everywhere in Blue Mountain.
Don’t listen to the negative reviews and give this place a try.
