We wanted to try out this restaurant during our stay at The Blue Mountains, and let me tell you, this was one of the blandest menus we’ve ever seen. The restaurant itself was pretty empty, especially considering it was a busy summer night. The servers were great, but the menu definitely needs a lot more variety and flavor.

My husband and I looked through the menu at least five times, trying to find something we’d like to eat, but it was quite expensive for such basic food options. We very politely let the server know that it wasn’t our cup of tea, and we left promptly.

That said, this was one of the nicest restaurants when it came to accommodating our double stroller, which we really appreciated. This restaurant is also right across the live event stage, so it can be quite noisy, but still tolerable.

On Wednesday, August 6, 2025, my family and I unfortunately decided to dine at this establishment. It took nearly 20 minutes to be asked what our order was and the table of 4 that was seated after us was never acknowledged and left, which is what we should have done. The hostess should have stopped seating people knowing there was not enough staff to accommodate the empty tables. We had to clear our own plates to the patio bar. We had to go and approach the bar to ask for condiments. We had to approach a random employee to ask for a drink refill. Absolutely despicable service. This establishment should have a management change immediately. I strongly recommend everyone save their hard earned dollars and avoid dining here.

Ate there a few years ago & it was quite good but two weeks ago it was terrible. Steak sandwich was pathetic, I’ve never had such a lousy & skimpy sandwich in my life. Barely any beef on it or fried veggies, the chef is out to lunch & so is the management. Order of garlic bread was two little slices. When we told the teenager server about the bad sandwich he shrugged his shoulders & didn’t take it off the bill, inform the manager to speak to us or give any kind of positive resolution. I emailed them a few days later but an over a week later & they obviously don’t care about their customers or reputation to bother to reply or call me. Went to the back bathroom noticed 5-6 teenage servers were standing around the kitchen door joking around when they should have been checking in on peoples tables. Another flaw in the management/place.

Our recent and first visit to MJ Byrne’s Irish Pub was extremely disappointing due to a combination of incompetent service and questionable management decisions.

From the outset, our waiter was inexperience, disorganized and unfamiliar of the drinks on the menu. When the food arrived, he dropped it off without plates or cutlery. We had to remind him to bring the basic necessities just to eat our meal, which was baffling.

We were automatically charged an 18% gratuity for a party of two and a percentage for using our credit card. We were told in advance that a gratuity would be added due to the long weekend, but no one mentioned how much it would be. Automatic gratuity is typically reserved for large groups, and in this case, it felt like a hidden fee tacked on to an already disappointing experience. The same day went to Tholos another establishment near by and they did not changed the gratuity in advance nor a credit card percentage.

We asked to speak with the manager, hoping for some accountability. Unfortunately, that only made matters worse. The manager was dismissive, unprofessional, and visibly irritated by our concerns. No apology, no effort to make things right, just indifference and have a good day....

Overall, MJ Byrne’s failed to deliver even the basics of good hospitality. Between the lackluster service, poor management, and surprise charges, it’s not a place we’ll be returning to nor would we recommend it to others.

Everyone was friendly and service was good but the food had zero flavor. We used salt on everything to make it edible. No one enjoyed their meal and 2 of the 4 meals were awful with no flavor and dried up chicken. Would not eat here again.

The food was okay but the service was slow considering we were few inside. Prices inflated for portion size.

Slow service, salty food and servers ignored us... better off opening a can or Puritan stew and cracking a Guinness in hotel room if you feel like Irish! Stay away!

Unfortunately was unimpressed with my drink and food. I ordered a Mojito and it was sub-par at best. For $16 It was watered down and the mint was just thrown in. I ended up switching to cider. The food was ok, nothing to rave about. Our server was new but he did a great job. Overall, not the best experience for the price we paid. Also, they only take credit card or cash as payment, no debit. They have an atm with a 3.00 surcharge if you need to pay cash.

We had a really disappointing experience at MJ Byrne’s. The service was painfully slow, and our server, Uttam, was especially unhelpful and careless. Our daughter has a food allergy, and we asked multiple times for him to confirm the ingredients in the ice cream. His initial response was “it should be good” — not exactly reassuring when dealing with allergies. Only after pressing him again did he finally check and discover it did contain an allergen. Completely unacceptable and dangerous.

On top of that, he overcharged us for the kids’ meal, didn’t even know that ice cream was included with it, and when it did arrive, the food was gross and barely edible.

We won’t be back.

Great little pub in Blue Mountain Village. We stopped for lunch here. Tip: if a couple of you want the chicken wrap, you might think about ordering just one and sharing. It was very good but far too big to eat by myself.

Went today and was completely upset. Ladies washroom had to climb over toilet to close the door and my husband said the men’s washroom has spit on the walls looked like it was caked on been sitting there forever. The chairs where to short to reach table at the right height. Server Gavin didnt seem like he had to much interest in anything other than his money. Couldn’t check with us about the meal or to refill the drinks then expect a big tip on top asking if we wanted change. Isn’t that the job of the client to decide on how much tip to leave not just to expect it? Food was awful minus the chicken wings fries were dried out not much flavour. Don’t expect to hear back but I’m sure that’s how most of your reviews go that’s why there hasn’t been any changes since most say the same thing.
