My wife and I make a point of visiting the Essential Cafe anytime we are in the area.
The food we ordered this past visit, was a 3 cheese grilled sandwhich and breakfast bagel. Both were top notch including the bake goods we have had in the past. The atmosphere is unique and comfortable and we always feel welcome by all. I would definitely recommend this cafe to anyone.

Fantastic cafe. It's my number one favorite! The people who work here are wonderful, and very kind. The coffee is amazing, and theres options for both cheaper coffee and more expensive coffee, so it's affordable! I come here every time I get the chance, and I have been telling almost everyone I know about it. Thank you!

I am leaving this place a five star review, solely because of the previous owners. They were wonderful. This is my first time being back since the owners changed and I am so upset by what I am seeing. There is a younger barista and two older people working, possibly a family. The younger person has been condescending and insulting to the older employee right in front of customers this whole time. I asked for an iced caramel macchiato, which the older gentleman has maybe not made before. The younger man repeated the drink name to him four times, each time getting more and more slow and condescending, only to make my drink in the end. He also followed it up with “it tastes good because I made it” when the older gentleman came around to ask me how my drink was tasting. The younger guy was openly shaking his head at the older worker, right in front of customers. As someone who works in the service industry, this genuinely broke my heart seeing that kind of treatment when someone is clearly learning the job. I was going to take my coffee and leave, but I made it a point to sit down and keep watching how this whole interaction was going. If I witnessed that much in a 25 minute span, I can’t imagine what has been happening all day. If you are looking to maintain that same warmth that the previous owners had, my word of advice to you is to not humiliate other employees right in front of customers. It makes the place feel quite hostile. Really disappointed by my visit today.

You are greeted with kindness and a smile.
The homemade bakery goodies are to die for. I go before work. When I work from home I make the drive from north end and back home. So worth it. The Oat Latte is better than Starbucks. The breakfast bagel is one of my favourites as well.
