Lots of options for vegetarians. Not sure about vegan options. They are pretty good at substitutions which can be helpful. Staff works hard, it’s a huge restaurant with booths and tables and sections. Can be loud and busy but the atmosphere is nice. My partner has a sulphites allergy and forgot to ask about the salad dressing and had a reaction, that really sucked. We think their lemon wasn’t fresh lemon but rather from concentrate. If you have a sulphites allergy, ask all the questions to avoid that.
Wheelchair accessibility: Street level with automatic doors.

Be careful as they now have a 1.5 hr limit for you to sit at a table. They take your orders and while you’re still not finished with your drinks/food ask you to leave! If you have a stupid policy that forces customers to leave after 1.5 hr, why do you then take their orders? This is the stupidest policy I’ve seen in any restaurants. never coming back to this place again.

I had a really disappointing and uncomfortable experience at this café. The service was slow and unwelcoming, I waited 30 minutes with no greeting or menu. When my food finally arrived, the pancake I ordered was undercooked and barely edible. Things got even worse when another customer made a rude, discriminatory comment toward my friend and me, making it clear we weren’t welcome because of who we are. The manager did apologize, but the whole experience, from the food to the treatment, was just awful. I won’t be back.

Such a bad experience today at this location even though the owner or the manager apologized several times which I appreciate but definitely not going any of the locations anymore. I walked in around 10 am, no greeting which I would understand cause he (waiter) was the only one serving, but sitting there for 25 minutes and getting the other customers who came after us was a huge disrespect, I had to walk all the way to the counter and ask for a menu which it’s ridiculous. Here is the part which shocked me and my friend and still I’m out of words. This lady a customer, walks to the table where I’m with my friend, she comes closer as if she wants to tell something important, and she says “You guys are not welcomed here, this is a Jewish place, I’m letting u know!” it got me off guard I just looked after her couldn’t say a word, I was like okey what is she talking about, the lady’s sitting behind us overheard partially and stood up for us while we were still in shock, I said it’s okey to her but it wasn’t okey I should have told her that she has no right to speak to anyone like that.. I’m thankful to those two beautiful ladies that stood up for us and complained to the manager or the person responsible there (treated us by paying the whole bill as well). He came by and apologized several times but unfortunately this sick mindset people are everywhere, as well as there are good and nice people out there. Everyone should respect each other no matter what…

If you’re trying to call to order ahead of time don’t waste your time. Their phone doesn’t ring nor do they pick up when you hit #0 to speak to someone immediately

Always a Great Experience!
I’ve visited Cafe Landwer over 20 times, and I always love it! The Merguez Shakshuka is a favorite, with cherry tomatoes, and roasted onion served with tahini and a fresh salad. The hot focaccia is a must-try, and the Mint Leaf Lemonade is incredibly refreshing.
The staff are friendly and seem to genuinely enjoy their work, creating a warm atmosphere.

I’ve been here a couple of times and always loved the pasta, but after today, I’m not sure I’ll return. The server was new and did a good job, but that wasn’t the issue. I ordered the pappardelle with chicken, and it was more oily than creamy, almost no salt, and very little chicken. For two people, we paid $75, which feels too high for a a cafe.

I’ve been a loyal customer of Cafe Landwer and have always loved their all locations, but this particular branch is a huge disappointment. I visited the Rutherford branch on a Sunday for brunch with five other people, four of them being seniors. The service was chaotic and unorganized, with extra long waits that made the experience unbearable. Despite our patience, our requests and order was neglected, and when it finally arrived, the food was cold and far from the usual quality. The staff seemed overwhelmed and confused. A table across from us arrived about 45 minutes later and served and left and our table was yet to receive two simple brewed coffee. My order was Egg Benedict on a croissant with coffee. In about 30 minutes I was notified that the kitchen ran out of croissants for the day (at 11:30am on a Sunday) and I asked for double toasted toast instead. My order came in with eggs nothing like what it’s supposed to be, cold and under toasted bread without coffee exactly an hour and a half later. I personally served our table with cutlery. Nobody seemed to be interested to serve our table with water although we asked several times throughout our stay. The manager of this branch definitely lacks professionalism and efficiency in training personnel and filling in the kitchen with proper number of skilled staff that makes the other locations so great. This place is completely overrated compared to the rest of the chain, and it’s clear they need serious improvements in managing their service. I’ll be sticking to my favorite locations from now on, this one needs to step up their game.
