Update: soondae was very dry and luke warm. Very disappointing :( plus the gukbap broth wasn’t flavourful like the other times that my husband had to return the dish. They remade the gukbap but he was already disappointed. $27 for all together. Sadly this will be our last visit.
Old review:
Soondae from here doesn’t have that strong pig odor. I love it!! $10 for the soondae.

I’ve been a loyal customer of this restaurant for years—ever since they first opened. Their cold noodles are hands down the best in Toronto, and I’ve recommended them to countless friends.
However, I’m really disappointed that in the past few visits, the cold noodles have been consistently unavailable—even during regular lunch hours or before 5 PM. But the other restaurants are still offering cold noodles. It’s honestly frustrating, especially when that’s the dish I come for.
Since the staff change, the service also feels less attentive. This used to be my go-to spot almost every week, but in recent months, I’ve noticed a significant drop in consistency and quality. I truly hope they can return to the standards that made this place so special.

We were standing at the counter to place an order, but several customers—who seemed to know the staff—ignored the line and ordered ahead of us. We waited patiently, assuming the place was busy with many orders.
Even after standing there for quite some time, the staff did not acknowledge us or make any eye contact. When we finally placed our order, the staff member came across as somewhat rude and told us that one of the items was unavailable. As we took a moment to decide on an alternative and tried to order again, another customer quickly stepped in front of us and placed their order instead.
The staff did not seem to care at all, so we eventually had no choice but to leave. Although this is just a food court pickup counter, the service was extremely disappointing.
This place used to have amazing food. Gukbap and katsu used to be amazing but it really went down hill. Maybe the owner changed, the katsu used have huge portions and very crispy and distinct but now its just like any other katsu and much smaller. The gukbap also has gone way down. It got really popular and lost its taste. Used to love this spot but will have to find another joint.

Rude Service
Honestly… I was completely shocked when I tried gimbap from Menkatsu for the first time. I’m not the type of person who eats “basic” kimbap. I always go for spicy pork or tuna gimbap, something with flavor. I never choose the regular one because I think it’s too blend for my preference.
But one day I saw someone eating the basic gimbap at the food court, and it just looked so good. Even the smell was amazing. So I ordered it just to try… and WOW.
I’m not exaggerating, it was insane. I’ve never had a basic gimbap that good in my life. From that day, I kept thinking about it. Even after a rough day, I’d find myself wanting that gimbap and nothing else.
So whenever I had time, I would literally drive 25 minutes one way just to buy it. But one day, I went there and… they told me they don’t make gimbap anymore. I was honestly extremely heartbroken. They said it was because not enough people were buying it, but… I was really shocked and so sad.
If I had never tasted it, maybe I wouldn’t care. But now that I know how good it was, I can’t stop thinking about it. And I can’t find that taste anywhere else.
I truly hope the owner will reconsider. That basic kimbap was really something special. I sincerely hope it comes back.

Had their sweet potato katsu before, it was good, a lil too oily compared to other katsu restaurants within the food court, but the flavors were quite unique, still good thooo

Ordered same menu that I order all the time (at least once every other week for the past few months). It came out differently (different from the description on the menu) and when I asked them a guy from the kitchen insisted that it was always like and.
Very rude and disrespectful. Customers are not stupid. I know what I was ordering and if I knew what that was what I would get- I would have ordered something else.

Legit Korean food. Not just a regular food court food. The pork noodle was very delicious.
Menkatsu is a lot better than your usual food court katsu restaurants. The breading was very airy yet super crunchy, and the side salad and corn were delicious. I low-key wish they would allow for rice refill like some other katsu shops though…

Very good ramen, and katsu is also good. No chicken unfortunately, just pork.
