Because Doug chooses to serve a single party, this is an intimate dining experience with opportunities to discuss each course as well as the local farm to table scene in Northumberland. Our meal began with charcuterie (of note we're the beef liver pate and smoked venison sausage). A fine roasted pepper gazpacho with olive tapenade followed. Next came a risotto with spring vegetables and saffron. The main dishes and accompaniments came next. There were so many that I would have preferred it had the tasty perch tacos and tempura shrimp been offered separately along with a side like the sauerkraut. Roasted chicken, stuffed pork loin and brisket were accompanied by vegetable dishes that showcased Doug's skills with vinegars, fermentation and subtle herb pairings. There was a lot of food and almost too many interesting flavours to fully appreciate everything. And then came dessert - a poached pear with a fig and orange zest filling accompanied by a subtly scented ice cream. You'll need to plan ahead to get a booking but you'll be glad you did.

I hate to do this review as we would like to keep SPER to ourselves! Absolutely outstanding! Food, decor, intimacy (just our family) and Dowg (Chef/Owner). Every course was terrific. Charcuterie Board, Salad with Cod Cake; Soup and Main courses (Trout, Beef, Pork, Shrimps and root vegetables). A true artist that presented unique variations on each dish that were universally delicious. Do yourself a favour and bring you closest friends and family to this extraordinary culinary experience!

This little gem in Warkwarth is arguably making the best food in Northumberland County these days, offering amazing take out dinners and pre-prepared meals. We've had food from here twice and both times have been amazing - once was one of the international dinners and more recently the Easter dinner. Both had a fantastic combination of dishes and there was a lot of food with great flavours. I would highly recommend giving this place a try and check out their social channels to see what dinner specials are up and coming.

Chef Doug prepared us a special brunch back in winter of 2020, but it was so memorable and delicious that I still think about it regularly. Incredible menu, local fresh ingredients, unlike anything we've ever had. Beautiful cozy little restaurant with lovely charming touches. Looking forward to going back again soon! If you visit Warkworth it's a must, along with Lucky Star's Cafe, and Centre & Main Chocolate.

Some of the best meals I have ever had have been from Sper. We moved to the area recently and have been doing their monthly ‘Feast’ dinners, the latest of which was themed the ‘Southern cone of south America’ - Argentinian, Chilean and Uruguayan dishes. Absolutely unreal. Can’t believe there is such an amazing restaurant out here! If you can, make sure you go.

We were a party of 8, 4 couples, we were greeted by Doug our host & chef. We had the restaurant to our selves which was an awesome experience in it self!! Very relaxing It was a 6 course meal, we started with a great CHARCUTERIE board, which was very tasty, then on to mushroom & chocolate cream soup, followed by ceaser salad, which I might add was delicious and authentic, best I’ve had in a long time!!! Next a beautiful arrangement of different coloured vegetables with a fancy board of meats, including beef, duck pork & fish, then last but not least a great dessert! We shared wine with dinner, which was also quite good. They do have other drinks if needed. Our experience at SPER food was a unique & definitely a good one!! We were all very satisfied with the service the meal and yes there was definitely enough food, you will not walk away hungry! Actually there was some leftover which Doug graciously put in takeouts for us!! Oh yes and thx so much for the homemade complimentary walnut ice cream , delicious!!! You couldn’t ask for a better spot to go relax & enjoy good company & great food!! Thx Doug for making our night so enjoyable. We will be recommending your perfect establishment for sure!! Everyone needs a spot like this specially in these times!! Thx again

Amazing Sunday Brunches!! My girlfriends and I experienced one of Doug's beautiful brunches last week. A combination of food that was just divine! Thank you Sper!

Came on an unexpectedly busy day (during the Lilac Festival). They still tried to accommodate as many people as they could despite running out of food. The Khachapuri I got was delicious and the salad balanced out the richness perfectly.
