Had lunch with my family here over the weekend, and honestly, it was one of the most disappointing dining experiences we’ve had. The patio looked nice, but that’s where the positives end.
The food was shockingly bad:
Pork Shoulder: Dry, flavorless, and inedible without drowning it in sauce.
Chicken Fried Steak: Bland batter with zero seasoning, and the “gravy” tasted straight out of a Campbell’s can.
Chicken Tenders: Same tasteless batter issue — like eating cardboard.
Salmon: The only dish that was remotely edible.
Hush Puppies: Overcooked rocks.
Mac & Cheese: Completely bland, no flavor at all.
Coleslaw and Fries: The only halfway decent sides.
Service was slow, but that almost didn’t matter because the food was such a disaster. For a place hyped up by the Food Network, this was a complete joke. Nothing lived up to the reputation, and frankly, it felt like cafeteria food at best.
Save your money — there are far better places to eat. This was all hype and no substance.

Came in tonight for the first time for dinner and loved everything about this place. It was a Wednesday night so it wasn’t too busy. The smoked wings came recommended by the wonderful server and I am so glad I listened to her as they were amazing. Every staff member I encountered was lovely, greeted me and my husband as soon as we walked in and said goodbye when we left, they made us feel so welcomed and were patient when helping us out with the menu. It’s great to see workers so passionate about the place they work. Overall would rate this place a 10/10, would recommend to everyone! We will be back!

Butchie’s is absolutely a place worth visiting. The staff was attentive and friendly from the moment I walked in, making us feelblike we mattered. The food was phenomenal, full of flavour and cooked to perfection. Portions were generous, and everything tasted fresh. I will absolutely be coming back and recommending it to friends and family.

Our first visit and it so very disappointed. Waited FOREVER for our meals and the yams weren’t edible they were only skins and burnt. The hot sauced fingers were cold and devilled eggs were “meh”. Most disappointed that when I showed the server the issues, I received a blank stare with zero attempt to remedy any of it. Concept is great - execution today was horrific. Will never return. Mistakes happen, but zero attempt to remedy them is unforgivable in the service industry. Bye for life ✌️

Not being here before and only seeing about it on You Go To Eat Here, I had to go to Whitby for other business and decided to head down earlier to try this place out. Needless to say the next time I go to Whitby it will be for a trip here. For starters the smell as soon as I walked in was amazing mouth watering really. Next it was the staff. The young man I spoke to first was very helpful in describing how to order, as I needed sometime to take in the delicious menu options I got a delightful young lady that was very helpful. The taste of the food was what you would expect from the smell simply delicious. It has been a while since I have been to NC so the hush puppies were a must have and the did not disappoint! I have the pulled chicken on a bun with coleslaw with a side of coleslaw. The dipping sauce for the hush puppies and the dressing for the coleslaw was spot on!! My son had the smoked pork shoulder Mac n cheese and hush puppies needless to say he’ll also be back with his buddies. Ordering takeout for my other son that could not join was also impressed even though he had to reheat it was still amazing. Both my sons couldn’t finish their dinners but were happy to take for lunch today. Will highly recommend this place for anyone who wishes to make the drive or is in the area it will not disappoint! Great job to all the staff for such great food and a wonderful first experience
I’ve been going to Butchies for a long time now, and it’s for sure my favourite restaurant. The prices are good, the food is amazing, and the staff are all so lovely. I do recommend ordering the chicken fingers because they are life changing

First time trying butchies, always drove by it, but never stopped in until today. And I wish I came here sooner, the food is amazing, the service is fantastic. I won’t bore with the details but they went above and beyond what was required of them.
I’ll be coming back here regularly and bringing friends and family.

The ketchup must be in-house made because the taste of vinegar lingered, it wasnt good along with the food. We won't return. It was a little muggy inside the restaurant as well considering it was so hot outside.
