Makimono Sushi Bar & Restaurant

I gotta say..... This place used to be my favorite AYCE sushi restaurant before the prices got silly expensive, which was already disappointing enough... However today is sort of the straw that broke the camels back, so to speak..
My best friend placed an Uber Eats order earlier. They still have a BOGO for their spicy crab rolls (our favorite) so we got that with a tamago roll, amongst other items.
Halfway through eating one of the crab rolls she put it down and pulled a long, black hair out of the piece she was about to put in her mouth.
It was so far in there that the sticky rice came off with it.
She was so unsettled she stopped eating everything.
The matter was submitted in to Uber and they refunded her $5.....
But i wanted to bring this to the restaurants attention directly as this is completely unacceptable. Please ensure your staff are wearing hairnets or something when handling the food.

Honestly the quality of the all you can eat is absolutely the worst. Nothing looks like the pictures and all the dishes taste the same. Same sauce and same Ingredients

Came here with my family to celebrate my brother’s birthday and we ended leaving with a bitter taste in our mouths. The food here was amazing, however, the customer service was horrible.

We had 2 different waitresses serving our table, and one of the waitresses treated us with absolute disdain. It’s almost like she did not want to serve us; she practically threw the food on our table, did not say a word to us, and had this constant look of disdain on her face.

The other waitress was nice, however, we were still not taken care of well. Overall, everything was very disorganized, we had to ask for basic service like water (which were never refilled), cutlery, and our menus to be taken away. The food was being dropped on the table without consideration of who ordered what, and even after telling them what someone ordered, it was still dropped at the corner of the table for us to sort out.

We dined out to celebrate a special day (and they knew that), and instead we were made to feel rushed, disregarded and unwanted.

I dine out a lot, and there’s a certain level of customer service that is expected. We did not even receive the bare minimum here. So disappointed, and we will not be returning.

Really enjoyed out recent visit to Makimonos.
The waiter was friendly, efficient and attentive.

The food tasted so fresh and flavourful. My expectations were pretty low but I was thankfully very wrong.

Will definitely be returning.

Excellent food not much good service (not enough servers). before I forget stay away from peach ( cold sake) or Yuzu thinks super expensive 250 ml $25 each wow, they are not much of drink anyways. Hot sake is much better deal for $8.

So, I recently visited Makimono Sushi in Whitby and it was a comedy of errors! First off, the edamame and coconut shrimp was so overcooked, it practically screamed for mercy. The service? Let’s just say a sloth would’ve been faster.

When we finally got our food, half of it was so gross it might as well have been labeled “don’t eat this.” And just when we thought it couldn’t get worse, they charged us an extra $25 for not finishing it! I guess they expect you to eat the inedible?

To top it all off, the female manager was a total witch—if she were any ruder, I’d have suspected she was auditioning for a role in a horror film. Save your money and sanity—skip Makimono! Brutal experience that cost $180 for 3 people, after a half hour wait just to get the bill. Never again…

My family and I dined in for dinner and had a great experience! Their all you can eat menu is endless and provides so much opportunity to try different types of rolls, etc. The interior is beautiful and gives off such a good atmosphere in the restaurant. Will definitely be coming back here with my family.

Gone down hill. When this first opened 15 or so years ago it was the best all you can eat sushi around for both the price and taste of the food. Every time I am in town I stop by and have noticed the price keeps going up despite the quality and taste going down. This past visit today will be my last. The noodles were almost flavourless. The sushi rolls were fine nothing wrong but nothing special. Chicken wings were great though. All in all I think it’s worth skipping. $40 a person on the weekend/holiday and $25 for a kid that barely ate anything is just not worth it for what is offered.

First time trying Makimono. Aside from the atmosphere which was alright... this specific all you can eat sushi place wasn't very good. I would say my least favorite of the bunch. Food/sauce tasted like bbq (not right for sushi) with country music ambiance (also not right :D) server was very nice. Drinks came as we paid. Would NOT go back there. Save yourself the experience and go to any of the other restaurants available in the same plaza
