I almost did not try this place after reading all sorts of bad reviews. Everything from food being bad/bland (no different than Makimono - go spend $10-20 more there if you’re gonna complain!), to selection (if you want a wide selection of deserts, go to D-Spot and spend $15-20 on ice cream), to cost ($90 for a family which I don’t know who would complain about that in this day and age - go to McDonalds!). Reviews are proof that some people CANNOT be pleased and will complain about anything!
Food IS good! Everything from the sushi, tempura, hand rolls, cheese wontons, sesame balls, pizza bites to ice cream! The food was well presented and the portioning was like any other sushi AYCE, especially the sushi.
Service was excellent because the servers were human and attentive. As much as I like $10,000 cat robots, you can’t articulate what you want to a floating tray.
Cost was surprisingly reasonable for 2025 ($45 for an AYCE dinner per adult AFTER tip). It’s not 2002, people!
I felt obligated to review Sushi Today because the bad reviews don’t do it justice. Most people who give bad reviews expect to pay less and want more or something that’s not even realistic. You wouldn’t walk into a fast-food joint and expect fine dining. It’s an AYCE sushi restaurant in Durham……what do you expect?
5-stars for food, selection, service and cost because my expectations going into an establishment are a little more realistic.

The place don't have entry gates marked properly and the staff are rude, seems like they just pass the food around that's it. Food is bland. Wouldn't recommend.

Haven't been I'm here in a few months. And will likely not be back for a few more months, as it appears the quality of the food went downhill.
The flavor of everything was extremely bland, from the soups to the sushis. I'm pretty sure the soy sauce was watered down as it was not salty and other patrons were complaining of the same thing. When you dipped your sushi in it the rice barely changed color.
Overall, bad experience. They need a major overhaul, as it stands I do not recommend it.

Staff just looked bothered all the time and felt like they didn't want to be at work. The food was also very inconsistent, some pieces were too big or too small and didn't taste the same despite being from the same roll. Won't be returning.
I'm not sure if it legal for a restaurant to add automatic gratuity/tip. I went here with my familly Sunday lunch .
They charged us $91 for 2 adults and 2 kids( 2 years old and 7 years old) breakdown $24 per adultx2 , $12 for 7 year's old and $5 for 2 years old=$91( their own total due to gratuity they charged us)
never coming back here .

Great AYCE price & options! I love the fried mantou and siumai options. Sashimi is not the best that I have tried but it’s still decent for a regular occasion. Service is excellent!
