ALTENACIOUS

I’ve went to this place a number of times. If you’re a Jamaican you can expect good food. The food size however is too small. I got 1 large fried chicken and 1 jerk pork with rice and peas. The portion of the rice was that of a small box food. I read a comment of the restaurant owner saying the portion is comparable to that of other establishments. That’s not the case, I go to lots of different establishments and this place is one of the few Ive went to with the smallest portions to offer. The meat and chicken serving is just perfect and the fact that chicken and meat cost more it doesn’t make sense for the rice servings to be small. Considering 8kg of rice depending on what type of rice you buy, cost between $15-20 dollars, the servings could be a lot more. The food is good though but paying $45 for two large meals and getting that small rice doesn’t make sense.

The food was good. Jerk pork with rice and coleslaw. Coleslaw was a bit too sweet, but the jerk pork was good.

This spot just jumped into my top 3 Jerk spots in the GTA. Their Ox Tail gravy is probably the best out of all 3. Chicken was juicy and the rice & peas were perfectly cooked. Their sweet coleslaw is right down my alley, even though I know some people don't like the vanilla flavoring but all in all, I'd drive here from North York just for this spot. 11/10!

Came in to order food. The girl behind the counter was rude. It says open but they had nothing ready to serve the customers. No soup not even white rice and gravy. So disappointing. First and last time.

I have been to this restaurant many times before and have never been disappointed. Great authentic Caribbean food. Recently I used The Jerk House to cater for an event. The food was DELICIOUS!!!. Customer service was outstanding. I will definitely be using them again for future catering as well as visiting their restaurant for outstanding caribben cuisine. Thank you The Jerk House.

The Jerk House had Great portion size, but everything else lacked taste, pizzaz and personality. The Jerk house ranks 4th ...

I decided to give this spot a try, went with their jerk chicken sandwich, and honestly it was pretty good, but I will say it was a bit sweet, which might've been the coleslaw, and I feel like the bun sort of masked the jerk flavor, so might go with their rice and jerk chicken if I ever drop by again :)

Great Food, But the Portions Miss the Mark

I visited The Jerk House recently and was impressed by the service—quick and attentive. The food was made fresh and the oxtail, in particular, tasted amazing. You could tell there was real care put into the preparation and flavors.

However, my only gripe is the portion size. For the price, I was expecting a more balanced serving. My order had three-quarters rice and only a quarter of oxtail, which left me feeling disappointed. Compared to places like Nicey's and Sunrise, The Jerk House is way too frugal with their portions.

If they could find a better balance between quality and portion size, this spot would be a top contender. Until then, I’d hesitate to recommend it at its current value.

The Jerk House was in my kid’s school during one of their school events. They served Jerk Chicken and Rice and Peas. The Jerk Chicken they served was chargrilled and was delicious. I decided to order out a Jerk Chicken dish from the restaurant. I’m sad to say that I was disappointed. The chicken didn’t taste chargrilled and had the “old” cooked chicken texture. The picture of the dish they had on Skip had plantains and they didn’t give any. The dish came with coleslaw. The coleslaw was dressed in what tasted like vanilla yogurt.

I got jerk chicken and rice, they don’t sell jerk sauce for the rice and the chicken was so burnt and dry (very over cooked chicken). Also the chicken doesn’t even taste like jerk, I’m so disappointed.
