A true Gem of a fine dining restaurant in Durham Your food will be cooked to perfection, beautifully plated and promptly served. Service is top notch, menu is interesting and changes time to time and the dessert is to die for really. Last time I had the steak and it was absolutely perfect and was clearly an excellent cut of beef. Great spot for anniversary, birthday or any meaningful celebration. Note for reference: The Lake Grill is in a tier clearly above the Keg. I look forward to eating there again.

The food is freshly made - the chef Jose is amazing - we had calamari and coconut shrimp for appetizers then the main was pickerel and shrimp - best seafood in Whitby - you will not be disappointed - support local standalone restaurants.

The Lake Grill in Whitby is a lot of personality and is a hidden gem in the Durham region. I visited this spot for my birthday, and the experience exceeded my expectations with its delicious cuisine. I ordered a perfectly cooked flank steak served with crispy, seasoned potatoes and succulent shrimp, all of which were exceptionally tasty—definitely a 10/10 meal. While the overall experience was fantastic, I rated the service 4 out of 5 because it took a bit longer than usual for our food to arrive; however, I understand they were quite busy that evening. Despite the slight delay, the staff were friendly and attentive, making the wait more manageable. The restaurant's ambiance caught me by surprise; from the outside, the building appears small and somewhat tucked away, almost like a secret spot. Once inside, I was greeted with a warm, inviting atmosphere was so nice when I got in. I highly recommend trying this restaurant, as every dish I sampled was flavorful and expertly prepared. It’s a place I would definitely revisit, willing to wait a little longer because the quality and vibe are truly worth it.

This was our first visit. Everything was amazing. The steak, lamb chops, oysters were all delicious…perhaps the best I’ve ever had, and our server (the beautiful red-haired lady…I forgot her name) was so friendly and made us feel right at home. We even met the owner, who came over to our table and welcomed us personally. Wonderful experience. 10/10 experience and I can’t wait to go back.

Compliments to the chef! Dinner was delicious tonight. We had the specials and they were special! And the presentation was gorgeous for the black cod with blueberry topping on a bed of squash! Our server was wonderful and explained things so well. Thank you! Highly recommend.
Throughly enjoyed our time here. The prices are very reasonable, the quality of food was amazing, the portions were a fair size. Service on a Saturday was a little slow but they were fully booked so it was entirely reasonable.

The food was good. But unfortunately it was stifling hot in the restaurant. We were sweating through our clothes. Couldn't wait to get outside for some fresh air. Mind you it was 30 degrees Celsius that day. We'll probably go back.
