I went in to order take out Chicken strips or fingers as I remember from last time so I went but front desk girl upsold(realized later when i sat in the car) me to do combo french fries, I opened after coming home, they gave me chicken strips with french fry with some sweet plum sauce whatever but No ranch sauce. which restaurant does that, how any one can eat chicken strip and fries with 2spoons of plum sweet sauce. I paid $21.47. as i was upset, i called while eating, front desk girl or some one picked up and apologized but i was ranting a bit very politely but she put me on hold. I think this restaurant represents everything that has gone wrong in Canada in last few year since i have migrated and before some one say why don't I leave Canada instead of complaining. I am in the process, no worries there. I have proof of receipt if restaurant comes back at me which most business do anyway. I am surprised this restaurant hasn't bankrupted during pandemic

Waited to be seated ....was seated...no exchange...no good evening ...and we waited approximately 10 mins before our server came ... restaurant had 6 people in it when we arrived ...1 bar staff ...4 servers ...do better!!
Now our server was wonderful!! Thank you Rachel ...but otherwise it wouldn't hit our radar again. Food was fair ...lacked flavour ...wasn't terrible..but nothing that separated it from its competition. We had one meal with hair in it ..which...happens ...and it was clearly a mistake ...but then one of our party didn't have a meal because the rest of us were already well into eating when said hair was discovered and they did correct it ..brought hot new meal ..but damage done. Lovely venue ..really loved it! But unfortunately not recommending.

I ordered wings (non-breaded) and fries via skip the dishes. The fries were good but the wings were rubbery and fleshy. I could have boiled the wings for the same effect and smothered them with whatever sauce you serve them with. I invite the owners (or restaurant manager) to show me how they cook non-breaded wings.

Sad to write this review cause I really thought this place was better. Today I ordered for pickup on my way to work, I was told 15 minutes and ended up waiting an extra 10-15 minutes inside even though there were hardly any other customers.. I got the chicken tenders (tossed) with sweet potato fries as a sub for regular fries, with an extra house dip, not only was the order $27 before a tip, my chicken was quite noticeably over cooked with black charred spots all over the chicken, and the sweet fries weren’t done quite enough :(

We visited the Oak and Ale Whitby Shores on Saturday evening had the absolute worst experience there. We were in a large group so I understand that can be stressful however, after waiting for more than an hour my sons burger wasnt cooked in the middle and then had to wait another 45 mins to get our meal and everyone in our group had already finished. It was to the point where they just put our food in a to go container as opposed to serving us. They also didn’t even bother asking what the kids wanted for their dessert so we paid for a full kids meal and didn’t receive .
Our server tried his best but so I can appreciate that but the overall experience was horrible and I can’t see us ever going back.

While I try and support local this is the 3rd time we have been there and each time is more disappointing than the last.

Good Food, nice place Verry slow delivery. Dessert, Apple Pie was missing apples. Nice place otherwise. I will go back and give it a second try.

Great place to have a beer and watch your sports team, we use this bar for gathering as a hockey team , it’s perfect, wings are awesome and drinks are cold. Service is great !

Unusual Experience at Oak and Ale

I never write reviews, but I just had to share this weird experience at Oak and Ale.

The food and service were fine—no complaints there. But when our food came, I had to ask for cutlery, which is when things got a little… bizarre. Our server started pinballing, bouncing around from one spot to another, behind the bar, into the kitchen, then back again. It felt like I was on a prank show.. After legit five minutes, she finally brought the cutlery over. I’m pretty sure she had to wait for another table to finish with theirs before she could bring it to us. Food had gone cold. Not a great experience. I’ve never seen anything like it at a restaurant before.

It didn’t feel like anyone was managing the place, but if they were I hope they were in the office doing roll ups or ordering same day delivery cutlery off Amazon lol. I get that times are tough, but cutlery doesn’t feel like the right area to cut back on.

Rookie stuff!

Tremendous place and excellent staff. A great place to catch-up. Staff are lovely and welcoming, very knowledgeable about the spirits and beer available.

Server was super sweet. Food is awful here. Menu is wayyyy too big so everything is sad and frozen. Oddly enough, fries seem to be the only thing they actually make fresh and they are decent.

Chicken wings tasted like they were frozen before, they were all watery and tasted off like they were past their prime. Drink options are limited, no local craft on tap which is usually due to an exclusive relationship with Molson Coors which is lame.

There are much better pubs in Whitby.

The Oak is a great neighborhood pub. Yesterday after work, a friend and I stopped by for lunch. Noah was our server. The professionalism from this young man was outstanding. He was completely on point, and I can't remember ever seeing someone do a better job. He represents the pub amazingly good. This type of service will keep me coming, and I'm recommending this pub 5 stars? thanks Noah!
