I attended Capones for dinner last night with my wife, brother and sister-in-law. We chose Capones to try somewhere new for us and based on the more than adequate reviews rating (4.6).
We were extremely disappointed in all regards food, service and atmosphere. The most important of these is of course food. We had two appetizers, the first were the arancini balls which were good but nothing special but the prosciutto wrapped asparagus were awful. They were the four thinnest asparagus you could imagine, well overcooked (burnt). That was $18 wasted. We has two pasta entrees, penne Arabiata was OK but the Farfale were not cooked in any sort of salted water and the cream sauce was completely unsalted as well. Cardinal sin for a supposed Italian restaurant. The salmon special was over cooked and dry, and the Sicilian chop was not good but more damning was the quality of the starch side dish of macaroni in marinara sauce. To say the macaroni was overcooked is an understatement it was practically mush. You can tell the quality of a restaurant by the amount of care in which the side dishes are made. You would have expected potato for the starch but pasta was not a good choice for salmon especially.
Food was served in a timely fashion but the waitress did not come by the table again until we were completely finished and she was not the one to bring our dishes.
Lastly for atmosphere, the restaurant was full but it was so deafening you couldn’t hear your own tables conversation. You could say that Nico’s on Erie was quiet compared to this. That’s pretty bad. This place needed the noise lessening overhaul way more than Nico’s
So I would say stay clear of this place. If you want a quality dining experience Nero’s is the place to go or if you want Italian then Vito’s is much better. You’ll pay more but it will be way worth it.

I had a lovely Saturday evening dinner at Capone's Grill and Pasta Shop on Wyandotte, and overall it was a very enjoyable experience. This cozy, family-style Italian restaurant has a lot to offer—great food, warm service, and an authentic, homey atmosphere.

We started with the arancini (rice balls) and tomato mussels. The arancini were a standout—crispy on the outside, with a soft, flavorful interior filled with fresh peas and marinara. You get three generously sized rice balls, perfect for sharing. The mussels were also tasty, served in a delicious tomato-based broth with herbs and garlic. While they weren’t the absolute freshest, the flavors were still on point and enjoyable.

For the main course, I ordered the chicken parmesan with penne pasta in marinara sauce and a side of green beans. The chicken parmesan was excellent—tender, juicy chicken with a crisp breading and melted cheese on top, served in a hearty portion. The marinara sauce was fresh and well-balanced, but the penne pasta was a bit overcooked for my taste—not quite al dente. Still, it paired nicely with the chicken. The green beans were a delightful surprise—sautéed with fresh garlic, red bell peppers, and flaky salt, and full of flavor.

The restaurant is quite small, with about 6–10 tables, so reservations are definitely recommended, especially on weekends. One downside is that the space gets noisy fairly quickly—you can hear the kitchen and conversations from surrounding tables, which made it hard to hear the music or chat comfortably at times.

That said, the service was friendly and attentive, and the food made it well worth the visit. If you're looking for a cozy, casual spot to enjoy Italian comfort food made with care, Capone's is a great choice. I’ll definitely be back—hopefully on a quieter evening!

Capone's offers a warm, inviting atmosphere with top-notch Italian cuisine and a great drink selection. The fresh bread with garlic and stracciatella soup were the perfect start, followed by a tender, perfectly cooked (medium rare) filet mignon, delicious pasta, and flavorful veal. The service was friendly and attentive, making for a fantastic dining experience. A must-visit for authentic Italian flavors!

Had a wonderful dinner last night! First time we have dined here and definitely will be back. We had the parmesan encrusted shrimp to start and was delicious! My wife had the veal picatta and I had the veal marsala. A bit of a wait for our mains but worth the wait. Both bursting with flavours and were served a a nice temperature! Made to order! The prices are also extremely reasonable!

Nope...never again...this place really needs a website to let you know your reservation is only good for an hour and a half...food was meh, service was under duress and the thing that saved the evening was having cappuccino and dessert at Salute in LaSalle...really wanted to enjoy this restaurant, but I'll be making reservations for my office's business dinners elsewhere
