Food was not good. Pretty sure they fry the chicken in the fish oil. Chicken tasted of old burnt oil that hasn't been changed in a long time and breading was really dark and smelled of oxidized oil. Drinks next door were good. Otherwise food was hard to stomach.

The atmosphere here is really nice, especially in the evening when everything feels more lively and enjoyable. The food itself was just fine, nothing bad, but also nothing that really stood out for the price point. One thing to note is that it can feel a little confusing since you get your food from one spot and then have to head inside to the bar for drinks or wait for a server to ask for your drink order. Overall, I’d recommend coming more for the setting and vibe than the food itself. If you go, I’d suggest going at night to really get the best experience especially if you bring a group of friends.

On a recommendation from Instagram, I learned of this quaint little spot tucked into an alley in Amherstburg. As a person who loves unique street food locations this place lived up to the pictures. The frate container is a work of art that houses a chef who makes works of art to eat. I ordered the Waikiki Beach taco with a side salad (fries are also an option). They were flavourful and fresh tasting. And the shredded salad was genius, as so many other restaurants never give me bite-sized pieces. My recommendation would be to come with hungry friends so you can share a few different items, as the menu has so many tasty-sounding choices. I'll be back for sure.

Another nice point to make is that there is a bar next door. While I don't drink, the kind waitress came out with a bowl of fresh water to ensure that my pup was well hydrated. Gotta love a dog-friendly patio!!

We had the chicharron taco with Mexican side salad and the poutine. The taco was very flavourful with crispy fried pork belly. I thought their Mexican salad was the best “lettuce-based” salad. Their poutine has lots of cheese curds unlike a lot of other places. Great food! We’ll be back to try other dishes.

Prepaid (waaay too much money [2 people, $44]), 45 minute wait, for terrible food on a paper plate.

Tacos were banging!!! Also they so kindly swapped out corn tortillas for flour. We got pork belly and fish both insane, one with fries other with side salad and both were delish. A table we walked by had fil dip and we got some …..let’s take a moment of silence of how good it was. The dill dip is another level, the fries are just shovels for dip!

Fantastic street food with bold flavors and creative dishes! A bit on the pricey side, but the quality and taste make it worth it—especially for foodies looking for something special. Highly recommend if you're up for a flavorful experience.

Tacos were yum, great marinated pork option. Burger was good but not their strongest offering. Fries were excellent also. Very trendy location modelled as a street food take out shipping container next to a boutique hotel and bar. Great flavor and vibes, not the most budget friendly.

Food was cold, paper plates were also pretty disappointing for the price.

We've had the pleasure of enjoying Frate at other locations and are so happy they found a home in the heart of downtown Amherstburg. The menu changes but the food quality never does. Always exceptional. Smash burger is awesome and their tacos are incredible. Always friendly service to go with it.

We stumbled onto Frate when we got overlooked by some “dog” around the corner. We are so glad we did!! The owner Rob and his crew put out some top calibre food items. We had the pickerel tacos… simple and delicious … fresh and lightly coated pickerel and a chipotle mayo drizzle over tomato and onion…. so good!!! Also the smash cheese burger!!!! This was top shelf!!! So good and charred to perfection. These were very nice people doing a fantastic job…. We had a couple of ceasars from the bar…. they too get high marks! Take the time to go see them. We loved the vibe as well… a great experience.
