⭐ One Star – Poor Service from Kitchen and Male Waitstaff

I had a very disappointing experience at The Penalty Box in Windsor. I simply asked for a Chicken Delight to be served open-faced, meaning the pita placed on a plate with the toppings added. The kitchen refused, saying the item could not be modified in any way and had to be wrapped in paper. I was told that if I didn’t want it wrapped, I could just unwrap it myself. That made no sense.

What made this worse is that others at my table had their orders modified without issue, such as removing tomato or onion, which are clearly modifications. The inconsistency was frustrating and unnecessary.

I want to note that the female staff on the bar side genuinely tried to help and initially succeeded. She put a note on the ticket requesting it not be wrapped, and I even chose to leave the table and take it to go to make things easier. She double-checked with the kitchen and was told it was fine. Despite this, the kitchen still deliberately wrapped it in paper and placed it in the box anyway.

At that point, it felt spiteful. I brought it back, thanked the waitress for her efforts, and declined a refund when offered. There was no point. I essentially just paid for a meal I didn’t want anymore.

The kitchen staff were completely unhelpful, and the male waitstaff were no better. I won’t be returning based on this experience alone. Customer service matters, and this was a failure on multiple levels.

I also wanna make a point that there were only three tables on the bar side at the time our table with a group of seven including me and I believe four or five other tables, small groups, two tops and four tops, so no excuse, saying the kitchen was backed up and very busy in the restaurant

Delicious food, friendly staff, beer on tap - what more could you want? I had a great lunch here.

My dentist recommended the place. She said: “get the chicken delight,” and I did. Great choice! Chicken was tender and all the ingredients were fresh and tasty as heck.

I liked all the hockey photos on the wall. Felt like a nomad ode neighborhood joint.

Bonus: I was able to find a spot in the small parking lot.

Visited for the first time based on my neighbours recommendation; was not disappointed! Very tasty, and fresh. Pork Souvlaki was tender and grilled perfectly. Excellent fries, perfect gravy. Greek salad was nice, generous amount of Feta and an excellent dressing. My wife loved her Chicken Delight. And to top it off, great service. We will visit again!

Flew in from Ottawa and this was my first choice for a bite to eat. The Famous Chicken Delight!!!Even though we arrived minutes before the close we were seated and greeted with great service and hospitality. The owner even provided the meal complimentary as he was so happy this was my restaurant of choice in the Windsor area after a long day and flight from Ottawa. Merry Christmas compliments of The Penalty Box was hand written for myself and my Girlfriend. No charge!. You are all amazing:) thank you so much! We will be back! Merry Christmas to you all!

Had the 'famous' chicken delight here felt like I had to. Great decision, it was so good! I've only done takeout so far but it looks like a good place to watch a game sometime.

Very clearly there are issues with service. They have never shown me service worthy of three stars. Portions are not worth it on takeout. They are redeemable for dine-in. Be prepared to wait more than an hour to receive your food.

When calling in for takeout, if they say half an hour, go one whole hour later. If they say twenty minutes, double it as well. Every time I order takeout, it’s always twice the time. They are not confident enough to say the real waiting time. Maximum amount that I’ve suffered waiting for takeout was one hour and thirty minutes after they said to come in.

Now, considering all this— I still believe the food is good enough for me to order an hour ahead, and it’s what I do now. Order, then double the time for pickup.

One of if not the best Restaurant of its type in Windsor,5 Stars excellent.

Great Local resteraunt that is know for their chicken delight. A chicken breast pieces ona pita with special sauce lettuce tomatoes and onions. A must try when in windsor.

Probably one of the best go to restaurants in Windsor, chicken delight with gyro topping is probably the best sandwich in the city, they used to serve a navy bean soup 🍲 that was so goodas well, but everything on their menu is delicious, you definitely can't go wrong!

The food is good but it’s not 2+ hours good. Called from the boarder of Ohio and Michigan, went to duty free, got through customs and pulled into the lot at 535. Still had to wait another 40 minutes for a pickup order. Absolutely mind boggling people in Windsor will wait that long for a glorified gyro with mayo. Grand total of 2 hour wait for pickup 🙃
