I was in the area dining alone, hostess didn’t seem pleased that I was by myself and seated me in the bar area which was fine. The atmosphere was good enough, it had a cozy feel and decorated in English pub style, seemed like a local neighborhood type crowd. Service wasn’t particularly great, waitress was rarely seen and it took a long time to get my bill to leave. The food arrived and was basically dropped on my table by a large gentleman. The meal was ok. Generous portions of potatoes, beans tasted from a can and bland, sausage had little flavor. The draft beer was on the warm side and I had to fight off the flies that seemed abundant in the bar area. Might return for a beer but probably wouldn’t dine there in the future

It's been okay before, but this time I oreder the Curry Chicken and it was just terrible. It looked nasty and the best part of the meal was the naan.
The server at first defended it by telling me that lots of people order it. She asked me if I wanted something else, but I was pretty turned off food at that point.
She passed the table multiple times (with my empty water glass at the edge of the table in hopes it would be filled), but only brought more water when I asked for it.
When she picked up my nearly full plate at the end (I picked out the chicken and ate the naan), she gave a brief apology, but then brought me a bill for the full amount. Sigh...

Charles Dickens has been a staple in Woodstock for many years, and for good reason. It’s got a great nod to classic English pub fare, and the food and drinks never disappoint. Always a solid spot to catch up with friends, grab a bite, and enjoy the atmosphere. Just one of those places that feels familiar in the best way.

Hands down the best place to eat n enjoy when visiting Oxford County area if you’re looking for that local pub vibe. Was recommended to us by one of the farmhouse owners in the area, and didn’t regret taking her recommendation. 10/10!!

Great service from everyone; bartender, host, waitress, manager. Crazy busy today with a street festival, but still felt welcomed and completely taken care of.
Amazing food, with very big portions. Cottage pie, roast beef Yorkshire bowl, and fish and chips. All superurb. Try the sticky toffee or brownie for dessert. You won't be disappointed.

This is a great pub in the heart of Woodstock, and as such it is our favourite long drive dinner treat. It’s a pub so it’s not a 5 star restaurant, but it is a 5 star pub! Great service, vibe and food. Only loses a star for atmosphere because it’s not supposed to be 5 star, it’s a pub.

They refused to accept a government-issued health card as ID and had the audacity to charge $10 cover. This isn’t downtown Toronto — it’s Woodstock.
