This place has great food with really good flavor!! I mean SO good!
Three issues are its way over priced for very small portion sizes. Think of a small Chinese food to-go box for $20. And the waiter doesn’t understand or doesn’t remember what we ordered. Maybe doesn’t understand English well, but says yes and no. So be sure to double check your order or order online. We got several dishes wrong and not as many as we ordered. Not a big deal because what he brought was great.

We are so happy to have Indian Family Kitchen in Albany. Though we are just introducing ourselves to Indian food we are quite impressed with this restaurant. The service is prompt and always so nice and polite. Everything is clean and orderly. The only difficulty is in choosing what to order as they have a vast selection. We are enjoying trying new dishes and have not been disappointed. The flavors are amazing and each dish has been very well done. You are provided a choice of spice level of mild, medium or spicy. We always go with the medium which is almost on the edge but not quite, a perfect fit for us. Get the garlic naan, delicious!
Indian Family Kitchen comes highly recommended, I encourage you to give it a try.

I had the Dal Tadka with garlic naan. It was so delicious, everything basically melted in your mouth. The portion was generous and I had two more meals when I was home. The service was great and it seemed like they were really glad were there. I will definitely go back soon. The only dilemma will be to order the same thing because it tasted so amazing, or try something new. There is something for everyone as vegetarian, gluten free, and dairy free options

Vegetarian options: There are several delicious vegetarian options, and some gluten and dairy free.

I wish I had remembered to take some pictures, next time. Very friendly and accommodating family operated business. Two sons and a proud father were working when we dined. The food was authentic and delicious. We were offered a selection of spice levels (heat 🥵) on dishes where appropriate. I chose mild spice at my husbands suggestion as this was my 1st experience with Indian cuisine. I feel I could have chosen medium for my dish, Chicken Patia. This sweet and (mildly) spicy dish was a nice entry-level choice, I believe, and the white rice accompaniment was beautifully cooked to light and fluffy perfection. For reference and because many will be familiar. I am comfortable with Taco Bell Hot Sauce and, sometimes, the Diablo. My Chicken Patia dish was Mild. My huband thought he would be safe with spicy vs. extra spicy for his Lamb Biryani. He does enjoy some pretty spicy foods and lots of hot sauces to boot. Spicy was exactly that. He said he would compare the heat to lots of chili oil. It is what he asked for, and that is what they gave him. I tried about a tablespoon full of his dish, and that was it for me. The heat was too much for me, but the lamb was so tender. We also tried an appetizer, Mixed Vegetable Pakora. Served with a spicyish green sauce or a sweet red sauce. It didn't take too many bites for these crispy little fritters to become addictive. I recommend squirting sauce directly onto your piece rather than trying to sop up the sauce. The Rasgulla was picked as dessert. Served chilled this sweet treat was different than most things texture wise, and some might struggle with that. It has almost a burst of sweet cold liquid, then a sponginess followed with a grit that reminds me of cream of wheat that sat for a spell. The flavor was delightful (I love sweet), and maybe the texture will grow on me.
As for the atmosphere, it is pretty bare. Various strands of holiday lights are strung along walls. Some bright white leds were harsh on the eyes. A lack of decor as it is a new business and appears to be a work in progress. I'm sure as things will improve with time. Thank you, Indian Family Restaurant. We will be back!

I had a terrible experience at this place, ordered naan and shahi paneer, naan was not fully cooked so asked the server and he got it replaced with another naan. The replacement was as bad as earlier which made me convinced that the cook didn't know how to cook naan.

My wife and I ordered couple dishes, samosa, and garlic naan. It was our first time there, and we went in to the restaurant for a take out. It took them almost 30 minutes to make them. I asked if the rice comes with the dishes, and the person at the front said yes. However, when we got home there was only one serving of rice for two entrees. In addition, the portion of the rice was probably half of what you'd get at the Indian food truck by Loves truck stop.
Not being sure of how spicy their medium spice level is I opted for mild. Usually with a mild you still taste some kick to your dish. It wasn't mild. It was vanilla. There was no spice at all. It wasn't even seasoned well. We had to add more salt because our dishes were bland. She had a masala dish and I had a madras dish. My madras was watery and it felt like eating soup with no seasoning. The amount of rice we got for the two dishes wasn't enough to soak up the broth. It was incredibly disappointing.
The garlic naan was soggy and I didn't taste garlice at all.
I will say the samosa was good. It had a good amount of spice in it and the dipping sauces for the samosa and the naan was good.
Overall, it was very disappointing. We'll stick to the food truck in Millersburg, you get good food and the price is much better.

A solid B+, chicken korma was tasty, and the medium was pretty good. Next time, I'll try the spicy. The garlic Naan was delicious. The dish had enough chicken for 1.5 orders of Naan, and enough sauce for everything. Would definitely come back that next time I'm in town.
