I am so sad to hear that Sumpter Junction closed. My first experience was decades ago, traveling back and forth between Salem, Oregon and Cortez, Colorado to take my wife to and from school every year. The place was magical, always bringing smiles to our faces. The train plus the local charm were a wonderful respite from the 22 hour drive. And I never, ever had a problem with the food.
