Sumpter Junction Restaurant

I loved to go here as a child and watch the train going around the mountain. I was sad to see that they were closed during my visit this weekend.

I am so sad to hear that Sumpter Junction closed. My first experience was decades ago, traveling back and forth between Salem, Oregon and Cortez, Colorado to take my wife to and from school every year. The place was magical, always bringing smiles to our faces. The train plus the local charm were a wonderful respite from the 22 hour drive. And I never, ever had a problem with the food. We were just planning a trip back down the highway again to a family reunion and wanted to share the experience with our daughter. I see when the posts ended and can guess what happened; like so many others, a great business died in the pandemic. Rebecca and I thank you for the memories. See you down the other side. I’ve been coming here sense I was a kid I’m so sad to learn that they are closed permanently I loved there food the atmosphere the staff and best of all the little train that makes it’s way all the way around the building

I went there as a kid 😃 to watch the 🚂 go by, and as an adult I ate there for sentimental reasons because of their 🚂, until the prices went up I hardly ate there until (I 🤔 😷 COVID-19) it closed 🔐 down it was 😢 to see a sentimental icon be gone: it is what it is.

We were vacationing in Baker City from Portland Oregon. We stopped by yesterday, June 18, 2021, as we were headed back home. This resteraunt was empty and closed. Is it out of business? We were very disappointed.

I've always had a great experience in this place. The service is great, I feel welcomed every time we go in. The food is consistent and comes out fresh, hot and in a timely matter...great place to take the whole family.

Always a go to when visiting Baker city. Enjoy the trains up above as well as the food. Very kid friendly. Have been visiting since I was a very young child myself. (I'm 31) I may live 8 hrs away...but whenever I visit, it's a go to place for breakfast for me.

Friendly little restaurant, love the toy train! Food was good, well priced and came out quickly. Tasty coffee too! Service was great, the place could desperately do with a refurb - the only drawback.
