Austin House Reviews
We pulled in pretty late last night, and asked if dinner was still on and the owner said,
“Of course!”
We had a great starter salad, huge portion of steak, green beans, and a baked potato. Split a berry cobbler for dessert (not sure how we managed to finish it, there was so much food!)
We stayed alittle later and chatted with the owners. They are both very kind, and have so many wonderful stories. Can’t wait to come back for some more home made food.❤️
Excellent food and service. A beautiful mountain drive to the restaurant. A Historical destination 🤗
Austin house has nice clean, comfortable atmosphere with local antique decor. The food is awesome. Recipes are just enough different from common to be unique in a delicious way. Desserts are like a little slice of something heavenly. They’re all homemade and there’s always a variety, in addition to the various selections of hard scoop ice cream that’s available. Austin House is a unique restaurant worth seeking out, with attentive hosts and delicious, flavorful meals. The German Chocolate and huckleberry pie are must-tries, perfectly paired with handmade milkshakes such as Oreo milkshake with plenty of cookie mix-ins and a caramel variety. The warm and welcoming atmosphere makes it worth the drive, with huge portions and affordable prices. The chefs, Mindy and Marc, serve unexpectedly fantastic food along a deserted highway. The cozy setting features local antique decor, creating a comfortable environment. Visitors can enjoy outside seating and homemade desserts that taste just like Mom used to make. The menu includes favorites like the smoked tri-tip sandwich on sourdough and satisfying dinner specials. Customers appreciate that all desserts are homemade, with a variety of options including hard scoop ice cream. Recent reviews highlight the house-made pies and a dense, moist bread pudding with rum sauce, which is good and worth trying again. The restaurant’s recipes are just enough different from common to be special and delicious. Austin House also offers excellent catering, making it a favorite spot for many in the area. For cyclists, there’s the option to stay in the field behind the store, but it’s best to check in first. The limited menu features well-cooked, seasoned burgers on toasted brioche buns with crisp lettuce, tomato, and onion, highly recommended by customers. The friendly host creates a warm atmosphere and even allows setup of tents and showers, enhancing the experience. Overall, this place combines great food, a cozy atmosphere, and reasonable prices, making it a memorable stop along the way.
