I decided to give Portside a try yesterday and it tuned out to be my worst dining experience. I ordered the captain's platter and had it prepared sautéed. When it arrived it was swimming in liquid and tasted like it was boiled in it. I presume the seafood was frozen when sautéed and the liquid was the water from when it thawed... at least that's what it tasted like. The baked potato was very small and appeared to be old or nuked in the microwave. I could not eat anything on my plate and told my waitress to take it back. She asked if I wanted to talk to the cook which I did. I told him how bad the food was as I previously described. He said his food is good and there was nothing wrong with it. They did not take my order off the bill and charged me half even though I didn't eat any of it. My brother had the Crab Louie salad and said it was ok. An off duty cook came to my table and apologized. He said to come back when he is working.

Gesh where to start? First we waited over an hr to get our food, was never checked on if we needed refills and some of us didn’t even get the drinks we asked for. Some of the food was good others not so great and came out cold. The water glasses were dirty. Expect to get gratuity added onto your bill if you have over 5 people. And to top it off we were the only ones in there. It shouldn’t take over 2 1/2hrs to have dinner. I’m not sure how they’re still open, everything is over $20. I see why us locals don’t go there. It needs updated big time for the prices their asking.

Very sweet staff and charming atmosphere, however it was very cold in the dining area. Additionally, we ordered the half oyster appetizer, the whole dungeoness crab, and the fried calamari. The crab meat smelled rotten; a couple of the legs had fallen off and were not attached to the body- the color was yellowish gray with the texture of meat that's clearly been frozen- overall a very disappointing experience. I am never one to send food back or look for a comp, but I do not believe I should've had to pay for a meal that was far from fresh/safe to eat. Very nice server though!

Lunch service is in an outdoor patio type area. Dont expect any views. Plastic utensils. Paper plates/cups. No bar open for lunch. The food was cold. The prices were dinner price for a lunch on paper plates. Steamer class were cold and boiled in water, no seasoning. The clam chowder was good but cold. The waitress was nice, the only reason i gave more than 1 star. I won't go back.

02/14/24. Hasn't changed, still the best from florence, reedsport, winchester bay and coosbay. The make a good ribeye for beef lovers great Australian lobster tail and escargo.May 2021. Had a dish called the Coquille.. OMG good.. Out of over 8,000 reviews I have possibly 10 resturants that have five stars. Well, I added this one today.First off, our waitress was Cheryl or Sheryl. She answered alot of questions about where the seafood comes from and gave her opinion of what she liked most. A couple I asked about she haden't tried but I wanted to know if they would make the shrimp with scallops and a white sauce rather than tomatoe base and she said yes.We had the captains platter, everything was delicious and so soft on flavor that we didnt use cocktail or tartar sauce. It was all tender and the scallops litterally melted in your mouth. I appreciated that it wasnt soaking in grease too.We had deepfried crab legs, a crab cocktail and clam chowder for starters. It was all delicious and the only thing I would have liked to have had was a little more flavor in the chowder. The clams were tender, flavorfull and not one bite of sand.We cant wait to go back and have Australian lobster tail when they have it and the afforementioned custom dish. It is a bit pricey but worth every dime. If Long Johns is your idea of seafood you will change your mind if you eat here.I update my reviews as I go back and review other dishes or the ones Ive had before looking for consistantcy so check them again. Rate them if you would. I like to hear that I am helping people and making them happy.

We really got great surprised by the food. My husband ordered the Gorgonzola Halibut and crab legs and I had the seafood Gumbo. We shared a Side of Caesar Salad. Everything was delicious...we will definitely come back...

What great food. The clam chowder was creamy, well seasoned, and, well, clammy. The crab leg cocktail was tasty, with intact dungeness crab leg meat. My wife's grilled snapped was grilled to perfection, and my Coquilles Saint-Jacques was very good. The mushroom flavor almost overwhelmed the scallops, but they were so good in the rich sauce. This is the off season, so we were the only guests in the dining room, although there were some parties dining in the lounge. We like the view from the lounge, and it was certainly quiet. They had no wine list, just a verbal selection of wines by the glass. Service was excellent. The waitress was clearly paying attention to when we finished our cocktails because the appetizers came out immediately after that. Entrees and wine were served in a timely manner. The chef came out and talked to us when we finished our meal. A very pleasant evening.

Not what I was expecting at all. We came for lunch expecting a more formal atmosphere, but the lunch area is more like a diner where food is served in takeout containers. We skipped the entree and just had dessert. The chocolate mousse is delicious, but the chocolate cheesecake didn't appear fully combined with chunks of cream cheese in it. It wasn't rich like I was expecting and felt kind of dry and rubbery - maybe old or a less than ideal recipe. They use the same chef on both sides we were told, so I'm not planning on coming back.

I have been in the restaurant industry for over ten years. This hands down had the worst service I have ever experienced. When we were there, there was maybe 3 tables? It took over 30 minutes to even get a bottle of wine. We ordered two appetizers to go, and one chicken tenders meal. This was to have as a snack at our air bnb. All food was fried food and came an hour after our bottle of wine. The waitress never came back to give us our check, so we went to the front with our to-go food to pay our bill (that we had to ask for at the hour mark). You couldn't pay me to come back to this place. I didn't take any pictures because I spent the entire 1.5 irritated. 0/5 stars.

September 2023 Probably the best fish and chips I have ever had. Scallops, shrimp and local fish.

The food was so so expensive, the quantity was small and it was not tasty. Only the roasted potatoes were tasty.
