Traveling throughout Coos Bay to the Sand Dunes we love trying restaurants out of the tourist areas. This spot is as local as you can get, located 100 feet from the major seafood processors you can't get it any fresher. They have Cod, Oysters, Scallops, Calamari Rings, Shrimp, etc. Everything was great, Fried of Course, quick service and food. Ambience is of a rustic diner on the docks.
Horrible horrible food. Owner uses expired food and the kitchen is so unorganized and unclean someone should call the health department. Never eating here again!!! Don’t waste your money here, not worth it.

Was out in Charleston stopped at Portside for lunch and was not willing to pay the prices they asked for lunch fish and chips. I went over to the Sea Basket they had three pieces of fish coleslaw french fries and garlic bread for $14. Overall it was a really good lunch. They have a small bar adjacent to the restaurant and did not go in it and I haven't tried anything else on the menu. But I will stop back in.

The friendliest staff. The clam chowder is awesome. If you order chicken strips, they're huge. Well worth the price. Speaking of prices, the menu is definitely easy on the wallet. The fish and chips are delicious. There is plenty of seating.

Kathy and Charlie are precious. Hard working, caring about their patrons, friendly, kind. The food! Yup it's yummy. Clam chowder made by Kathy, still have not discovered another chowder to rate for being yum yum. They also run Donuts and dogs in Empire. Trying to get their. Open early till 2 from my last inquiry.Charleston marina is spectacular at night. Fishing vessel's have their lights on. Beautiful. You must go and meet Kathy and Charlie. They are a rare gem waiting to be discovered. This is my honest opinion.Parking: Just go, you won't be dismayed
Recommended dishes: Clam Chowder, Biscuits and Gravy

If I could give this restaurant no stars, I would. There were no clams in our clam chowder. I ordered clam strips and they were mushy, tastless and had a strong fishy taste which tells me they weren't fresh. Needless to say, we didn't eat our food, and we left hungry and still paid full price. When we told our waitress how bad the food was, she felt insulted. Apparently, she's the owner too. We said our intention weren't to insult here, merely to inform her how bad the food was. She got offensive and cursed. We feel bad she took it personally, I hope this review will help her improve her customer service and hopefully her food quality.
We had fish and chips. The cod was not fresh. I asked about it and they said they couldn't get fresh fish. They are right next to the docks in Charleston.

Fish done right. Delicious local oysters that melt in your mouth. Definately worth a return trip for the butter clams

We were looking to try somewhere we hadn't been in a while. The last time my husband and I were here is when we would come in when were kids with our parents. Literally the best halibut fish and chips we have had in this area. Generous portions. The owners are great! Thank you for a great meal. We will definitely be coming back!! (Darn I forgot to take a picture)Parking: Lots of parking
