We have been going to Deans off and on for years. This is the first time we have been there since they sold and have new owners. All the staff is new [ that should have been the first clue and we didn't have to wait for a seat ] We sat down and the server was very nice and was working hard. However it took a lot longer for food than before and they were not crowded. Then we got our omelets nothing like they were before! Mine was only half what I got before and my wife's was quite less but had no flavor! It use to be I could barely eat half and take the rest home this time I ate the whole thing and I wasn't hungry when I got there! I'm so sorry to see the demise.
Been calling this place since 745 this am morning. Was hung up on 3 times, and, never called back, the 4th time calling, the phone is now busy, and at 926am, for almost two hours, the phone has been off the hook. How you run a business, and not know your phone has been off the hook for 2 hours, is pretty amazing....
meals take too long to reach the table. Another day their web site says they close at 2:30 PM. I got turned away at 2:15 stating they were closed. The place has certainly gone downhill since new ownership.
My wife and I ate lunch here during our recent trip to the area. It is located in an industrial area inside an old craftsman style house. There is off-street, free parking, and seating inside and outside. (Seating availability may be a little tight if they have a crowd.) Their menu is fairly basic offering breakfast and lunch dishes, and it is obvious that this place is popular with locals. All of our food items came as ordered with huge portions and the service was good overall. One caveat is that they only accept cash, no credit cards or debit cards are accepted. Another issue we observed is that they reuse their glass ketchup bottles, which is not unusual, however the paper labels were nearly transparent from repeated use and when I took the cap off the bottle there was a lot of black, old ketchup in the cap and on the bottle indicating that the bottles are not regularly cleaned before topping off and reuse. You should have an appetite if you visit this place, or be prepared to share a dish with someone.
Went here with my wife for breakfast on a Sunday morning and we both had Philly steak omelets. This was our fist visit since the ownership change. I didn't expect it to be the same but I expected better. Service was fine but the meat in our omelet was full of fat and gristle, maybe 20% of the meat was inedible. I didn't complain and maybe I should have. The staff was friendly and on point. Cost was higher, We could have gotten a better breakfast for less at other restaurants. We won't be going back. Sad. This was a go to place for us.
Deans was sold and I’ve given it several tries under the new ownership and it’s just not the same anymore. It really saddens me. Menu changes, price hikes, smaller portions, no salads with certain meals, hamburger bun top was dry and crumbly. And they choose the whitest lettuce to add to it. And I’m not impressed with the wait staff. I found her unfriendly and not terribly attentive. Had to ask several times to refill my coffee and other things. And the specials are so expensive now! I wasn’t expecting it to stay exactly the same but this isn’t my Deans. Don’t fix what wasn’t broke.
Eggs, blueberry and regular pancakes, hash browns, coffee all excellent! Prices are reasonable. Servers are very friendly and accommodating, but breakfast service was quite slow even at 10:30!
Wow! We have been fans of Dean's Homestyle Cafe for many years. When the new owner's took it over this year, we were concerned about whether the comfortable, flavorful, "homestyle" experience we were used to would remain. The new team has done great! The staff is super friendly and working hard to make people feel welcome, learning names of regulars, and carrying on a place with a great reputation. The food is still excellent with super generous, well prepared portions and very reasonable prices. Well done!

The new Owner Aaron persuaded Dean, to keep the name "DEANS" by agreeing to have Dean stay on for a months while Aaron learned the menu and how to run the show. Aaron wanted to be sure everyone knew he was the "NEW BOSS" he told Dean he didn't need him there. Aaron was without the regular staff within a week, had new employees and no idea what he was doing. Terrible. Google reviews since the new Owners took over, reflect exactly that.

The server was kind and personable. He skillfully carried 6 plates to the table next to us with no tray. The food was priced well and was delicious. Always a treat! ***No debit or credit accepted***

Dean’s is one of THE BEST family owned breakfast & Brunch restaurants around….They are so good that they’re only open from 6:30am-2:30pm, Sundays 7:30am-2:30pm….Their restaurant is in a super awesome early 1900’s house located on Hwy 212….A business district has been building up around this house for a few decades…….Everything about this cafe is excellent!! They only accept Cash, no plastic or checks, so come prepared, otherwise you’ll have to go to the nearest ATM, a few miles west on 212, or a few more miles going East…..Also, it’s a hit and miss whether or not you maybe waiting in line outside….Come prepared for that too….No matter what, Dean’s Homestyle Cafe is worth all that and more….They NEVER disappoint!! ❤️🔥💯❣️💯❤️🔥💯❤️🔥💯❣️💯❤️🔥

Personal local favorite because of the prices and past service. Recently service has been a little on and off, but ultimately not terrible. The prices here are way better than any other breakfast place you'll find close to Portland. My personal favorite dish to get here is the finisher because I love a burger with an egg on it. Make sure to emphasize how you want your burger cooked, as they prepare meat very well done here. I strongly recommend this location for people looking to eat a good breakfast or lunch and not spend too much. Remember to bring cash, there's an ATM down the street at the gas station as well.
