McMenamins Sunnyside

Hands down Shane, Nicole , Sadie, Miles and the rest of the crew are absolutely some of the best humans I’ve had the pleasure of interacting with. I’ve been coming to Portland my entire life but most recently in a professional capacity since August of 2025, these guys and gals have alway gone above and beyond my expectations no matter the amount of bodies in the establishment. If you are every in the area do yourself a favor stop by eat, drink, and be merry.

We come here several times a month, service is often drab, you wait at the door sometimes for ten minutes without any communication, serving people could care less if you wait. Then food ordering takes 15 minutes plus, getting more disappointed coming back each time.
UPDATE: since my last of this eatery, it's improved some things service is getting better, some have attitudes most are friendly, food is about the same, if there's one thing that could be done to improve this place, NEW CARPET, this place has always smelled musty like leaking beer on carpet never cleaned, filthy and stained. Please improve this place, it could make so much more money if small improvements were made. 🤑

I like this location and the food here. Wait staff are friendly however service can be slow when they get busy. Smaller location so it can fill up at busy times. The parking lot can be a bit of a challenge to find a spot because it is small relative to the amount of businesses in the general area.

Was in for happy hour. Tryed to get the waitress to come over so we could pay and she keep waiving us off untill 10 minutes after happy hour was over...our bill should have been cheaper but she rangup our bill after happy hour was over and charged us full price still...such bs...58 bucks for a basket of tots a Cesar salid one soda and a old-fashioned is garbage...won't be going back

Overpriced but great service

I can't believe I'm writing this. I LOVE me some McMenamins, but I had the most disappointing experience here. It was the typical atmosphere and unique inside, but food and service needs improvement. I ordered the TNT chicken basket with tots and a bowl of chowder. All pretty normal staples I order on the regular, I'm no stranger to McMenamins. Lol Chowder shouldn't be watery or runny. Chicken strips were black and burned in some spots, and my tots were almost orange from being overcooked. We waited approximately 25-30 minutes for food, and the establishment wasn't that busy. There we maybe 5 or 6 seated tables. My sever spoke with the manager, then offered food replacement and said someone new made the soup, implying she knew it wasn't up to par, but they're serving it anyway. I declined, not wanting to wait another lengthy time for my meal. She then brought over the card machine to check me out so I could be on my way while another table mate was still eating their food. We were all on one check, so we paid and left. No communication from the manager who was hanging around the bar area, just bye. I'm disappointed, to say the least.

Food was better than past experiences. Service Great. Feels like a neighborhood bar, cozy.

Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the area and friendly.

Easily the worst location in the state

Food always good, but despite being the only people in the restaurant the food took >40 minutes

Excellent food! Had the fish and chips, my wife got a burger and so did my son. Really good meal, service was good and our server was friendly. Little slow, but everything was good!
