I don't read reviews because I like to make up my own mind. The building is what you would expect of a rural older lakeside restaurant. The tavern side is nice with a large outdoor seating area. Quite colorful in a humble way. Let's get to it. The service was excellent. Our food arrived rather quickly. The food caught me off guard. My Diablo burger was amazing, probably the best burger I have eaten and the onion rings were the best I have eaten, the BEST. Can't wait to go back and try the brisket.

The brisket was absolutely the right choice for me.Service was friendly and fast. The housemade BBQ sauces were winners.I was very surprised it wasn't busy based on how good they were.
Pro tip: "Greens" here means salad. This is a Texas bbq place so we were expecting cooked greens like poke & spinach etc. Not a huge deal but hubs ordered chicken and the guy specifically asked if he wanted white or dark meat - he chose dark but received white. Other than that, the meat was terrific; not overly smoky but flavorful and perfectly cooked. Sauce was yummy but they were a little stingy with it. I wouldn't get the potato salad again but the fries were freshly cut and crispy fried to order. Good beer selection on tap and it was fresh& cold.
No sign of the famous Animal House booth which is just fine. This is a dive bar and doesn't need that added weirdness. Not sure this is worth an extra trip but if you happen to find yourself in the vicinity and hungry as we did, it's a win.
Kid-friendliness: They were fine with both children and dogs there as long as everyone was well behaved and got along.

Had their brisket damn it was good. we stopped in on 2 different trips down that way and will stop in next time. Unfortunately, it won't be until the weather is good again

Hands down the best bbq I have EVER had. And yes, I’ve experienced bbq from the south before. I would drive from Eugene just to eat here. Jacody (sp?) is a gem!!
