Matsukaze 松風, meaning 'Wind in the Pines' - is, to me - without doubt - the finest restaurant in Grants Pass. It's opened three hours a day during the week and 3.5 hours on Saturdays for a reason: that's all the time it needs. People are at the door before it opens and it's busy until closing time because the food is absolutely superb. And the ambiance: perfect. It's comparatively rare to find a Japanese restaurant in America, especially one of this caliber. I first came to Matsukaze in 1984 and it's still going strong for self-evident reasons. A classical Noh play by Kan'ami Kiyotsugu (1333-1384) is also titled 'Matsukaze'; a true work of art, just as this restaurant bearing this same name most certainly is. Anyone visiting Grants Pass should be sure to make dining here a priority.

Amazing food and service. Everything is so delicious! I love the teriyaki chicken, the rice, the salad dressing, the chicken katsu, the kalbi ribs. It’s all delicious!

Been in Grants Pass 7 yrs before wandering in with some visiting family. My only regret is we didn't go in sooner. Food and service is out of this world. Rare you can say that about both. Especially in a small town

We have eaten here three times over the last year or so. Sarah has been our server each time and she is amazing. She is super helpful in navigating the menu to help identify dishes that fit dietary needs/restrictions and is very attentive throughout the meal. She also is very kind and takes time to talk and get to know you and makes the dining experience as positive as she can. Also, the food is incredibly delicious and never disappoints!
Wonderful food, not too crowded or loud, great atmoshpere, fantastic service!
The food is always amazing. Sometimes it's busy and they have a wait time to be seated. It's always worth it though.
AMAZINGLY YUMMY FOOD! Staff are so kind and FABULOUS!
I think this might be my new favorite place in town for a fusion style restaurant.
And they have the best plum wine!

Family favorite, especially the inari and tempura. Flavors are spot on and the spicy dishes have the perfect amount of heat. And make sure and pick up a bottle of Tropics salad dressing, it is the best.
