We stopped here on our way home from our very long US-Canada road trip. My husband wanted seafood badly and we happened to be driving through Portland. He found Batterfish on Google and looked like a great place to try. The gentleman working greeted us with a smile and was super nice. We ordered two orders of traditional fish and chips and one curry. OMG SO DELICIOUS!! We all loved our food, I loved the curry the most. Amazing! We were so full but my husband gained a churro addition while travelling through the US so had to try those. Very yummy! Thank you for one of the best fish and chips we’ve ever had. Wish we lived closer to enjoy this more and try the other flavours on the menu.Thank you from the Albertan family!

I consider myself well versed when it comes to quality of fish and chips, so to keep it plain and simple -- Batterfish makes a mean fish and chips. Crispy and light batter, with tender and moist fish inside, house made tartar sauce -- AND, a bottle of malt vinegar on every table.No panko. No lemon. No packers of tartar sauce.The secret MVP of our order was the curry battered fish. Absolutely a must-try.It was a pleasure meeting and talking to Jay (owner), and I wish him the best. Looking forward to visiting again the next time we're in Portland.

Excellent Fish and Chips! Really impressed with all the options they have (gluten free, vegan, a variety of different batters like garlic ginger). A coworker from out of town knew about this place for their gluten free version. I had the regular and would put them in the top tier of fish and chips in Portland. They also have a vegan offering which uses a seaweed marinated tofu that our vegetarian coworker ordered and said was great. The chips (fries) are really good too. The owner was working and chatted with us a bit, really nice guy! I will happily come here again (I get cravings for fish and chips).

I normally avoid fish and chips because they sort of leave me feeling queasy/like I just ate a ton of grease, but this place was great. Jerk batter fish was super light, fries were crisp. Owner was super nice and talked about his approach to vegan fish and chips, which will be the thing I order next time.Vegetarian options: Rare fish and chips spot with vegetarian and vegan options

Amazing Curry Fish and Chips. I found the music to be a little too loud but otherwise the food was fantastic and didn’t know Guy Fierie was a fan. Amazing place in the Belmont area.

As the name of the restaurant suggests, the batter on the fried fish is fantastic! Perfectly crunchy over a delicate and tender fish fillet. I can't imagine you could go wrong with any of the flavors, since they're pleasantly subtle. The owner is a great guy and very friendly. If you have a chance to chat with him, you'll feel like you've already been friends for years. Definitely recommend stopping by!

Hours on website and yelp showed as being open. Took Uber to eat lunch, arrived, and was closed. If this happens to you, just go to the taco shop two doors down. Fantastic street tacos!

It was a little oily in all honesty. The gf is only traditional batter but idk felt like it was missing something. The owner was very nice and providing great customer service after he served us. It was only him working that night so you'll have to be patient and wait until you can order. I didn't try any other flavor but my husband said his was a bit salty and oily too. Might give it another go.
