I live in the suburbs, and we get tired of having to drive to PDX for good food. My husband needed something at the mall today, and wanted dumplings, so we decided to try Dough Zone. I wish we had made the drive. The food here is perfectly servicable, but really bland and Americanized, and everything was pretty oily. We didn't have high expectations from a mall restaurant, but there was a lot of excitement about it when It opened, so we wanted to give it a chance, but we're not going back. The Bao, especially were a disappointment. I've had some great Bao lately, and the flavor and texture and size just didn't compare.

I ordered from Doordash and I will never get food from this place again. The Dan Dan noodles were about as much as you'd get in a ramen package. Honestly I could have made better noodles at home. They were greasy and the flavor was unimpressive. The pot stickers were not even as good as the ones from the grocery store freezer section. I don't understand what the appeal is we couldn't even eat this food.

Food 3.5/5 - Service 0/5 - Ambiance 3/5

So my wife and I had went to DTF in Washington Square a couple months ago, when we found out there was a dumpling place closer to us on the east side we were excited to get a chance to try it.
Came here for dinner with our 18 month old son. Ordered the scallion pancake, Xiao long bao, cucumber salad and potstickers. The food was okay/good, not exceptional, good for the price relatively speaking.
Our waitress the blonde haired girl, was very friendly and accommodating, no issues with her whatsoever.

One of the runners however, Jonathan. He had brought us the cucumber salad, which has chili oil, it was a little too spicy for our kid, which is fine. I asked him when he came back with the dumplings if we could get a side of white rice.. rather than respond with “sorry we don’t have rice would you like some noodles or something else”. He rolled his eyes and audibly muttered “real Chinese restaurants don’t have that” as he walked away.

That’s the rudest thing a restaurant staff has ever said to me, I was immediately furious, didn’t want to make a scene calling a manager over to address that on the spot with my wife and kid there. I’m not sure if he was having a bad day or if he always has a crappy attitude like that, but talking to customers like that is unacceptable.

I’m not sure if he was saying that to me as a Caucasian appearing guy that is ignorant? He is some type of Asian, I won’t assume he’s Chinese, but I am, I’ve grown up eating at home and all kinds of Chinese restaurants, traditional or non, here and in HK and Canada, plenty of restaurants have rice. To make a comment like that is just asinine.

The only reason this review isn’t a 1 star is because the food was decent for the price, and the waitress was very kind. There are several other dumpling and noodle restaurants around, and we’ll likely be sticking to those alternatives.

The service was good. Didn't really ask for refills, but that's not too bad. The Dan Dan noodles and dumplings were lack luster for the price. But the wontons were decent.

WOW, my boyfriend & I were super impressed with the flavor & quality of the dumplings here, AND the awesome service! We were out shopping & noticed this place for the first time, & we're already planning on bringing our folks here soon. Amazing XLB delicious bao, & the pan fried dumplings. If you haven't visited this hidden treasure, go go go!

Be wary of the online delivery options. We love the food here but have twice now had deliveries not show up. Both through door dash. Door dash refunded the money but we were left without food. I would suggest they remove the delivery option from their website if the delivery service is unreliable. Would only eat in the restaurant in the future.
