It was a seemingly ordinary morning as I crossed the limiting boundary to the City of Harrisburg. With my treacherous journey toward the office nearing its halfway mark, and the days unfolding officially underway.. It was then I unsuspectingly decided… why not stop for some wholesome, caffeinated elixir at this miniature barista basecamp, already serving two vehicles. After all, there could be no way of knowing that I was about to witness a complete disregard for one of the American society's most sacred unspoken rules: the one where we wait in line.

The unfetterment of order that ensued next? Well, Just before I was inspired to write this review and during what felt like an eternity (or somewhere around about 25 minutes), I came to a startling realization! (Pause, imagine a car or two passing on through as you remain stationary, quietly waiting for the expected sequence to resume in proper order). What is this? I see…? These individuals that are being served out of sequence? Are the…? These were no ordinary humans. Clearly, there was a hierarchy at play here, a secret code that determined the order in which customers were served. One not for the faint of heart, certainly, for this is a mystery cocooned within its own enigma…

You see...? When we enter a line, we do so with the expectation that our time and presence will be valued equally to those around us. We trust in the system, believing that our patience will be rewarded in due course. Imagine my bewilderment as I realized I must be trapped in some perpetual paradox, where the sacred act of queueing have been reduced to a hazy, distant memory, stripped of its meaning and purpose? So, Just like the Monopoly Guy found himself suddenly stripped of his monocle, will I too be gaslighted into thinking it never existed in the first place?

And then I thought for a moment as I continued on with my drive to work: perhaps the staff at Java Joy were simply innumerate, perhaps they struggle with basic principles of counting and sequence. Yes, that just might be it! That is the only logical explanation for the complete and utter disregard for the natural order of things… Oh, and Of Course! A critique of such disarranged calamity would never feel complete without a final salute to my superior humans, the 'line jumping aristocracy' mentioned earlier. For it is well documented that an air of entitlement blows in from the south, casting its net, leaving one to ponder if that poached cup of coffee brings them a sense of unbridled fulfillment! It's as if it were one of those wonderful free trophies, yet another to add to their collection. (Although, I don’t suppose it is likely, that their tally of this collection, is… accurate.?)

Finally, a thought for those with visual abilities that stretch beyond that 10ft event horizon surrounding the many... - Within this ever-evolving American society, one finds few things unfouled by the existential chaos seemingly commandeering the world around us. Not left untouched are these foundational, unspoken social contracts that govern simple concepts such as the act of standing in line. So, even subtly, as such a society plunges further into unknown territories, there is the will of social acceptance, dragging its feet a few paces behind, revealing the erosion, and we begin to watch as these sacred covenants slowly begin to shatter, leaving us to question all the way to the core, to the very foundation, invoking such a pondering curiosity as to patience, and how it continues intact, though surely it is bound to fray.

Really good coffee, and the staff is so nice. I love riding bikes down there w/ my family to get a drink and they are never super busy so you can have a pretty nice conversation while the make your drink. And they make your drinks fast and well, they will happily remake your drink if they mess up. I usually get a Cold Brew considering that is my favorite kind of coffee but I also really like Mocha-Breves. Lastly it's not expensive which is really nice.

Just tried this place today and it’s the best coffee my boyfriend and I have had in a long time! We talked to the owner Melissa and the barista Aryn and they were both super awesome and informative. We appreciate the quality ingredients Melissa gets for the coffee. We need more places that care about what we put in our body!! Thank you guys for coming in to town!

Minus 1 star for accessibility.
Most of the staff are friendly & professional. There's always someone having a hard day. I don't drink coffee or any of their products but my daughter makes up for it. She tells me her order but there's always something they ask... (I refuse to call while in line already) so, we quess together and we've never been wrong. Some days the wait is a little longer but mostly they're pretty fast. Small towns like ours understand the waits. Just saying 'hi'
