Their quiche is divine, especially when paired with a loaf of their bread! They have many options to choose from and the quiche varieties cycle out, so it's fun to see what they have on any given day.

I've yet to get something I don't like from Ovenbird. Sometimes I even get stuff off the discounted "Day old" table and its still just as good. I've gotten a lot of different kinds of pastries from them, as well as some sandwiches and quiches, it never fails to impress.

I just had the best first-time experience here at Ovenbird Bakery! I met who I believe were the two owners and they were fantastic. Great service, they explained everything on the menu and showed the many options for food. They were the sweetest to be around, too. Love this place! Definitely going to be a consistent lunch spot :) You have to try their Cheddar & Roasted Cauliflower Soup!!Dietary restrictions: Many gluten-free options available

Great local bakery with good prices. I come here often to get quiche or a Danish for a quick breakfast. The first time in, Tony helped us out and went over everything. He was so nice and magnified that small town experience that is so welcomed. Highly recommend.

Excellent gluten free bread! Try the sour dough loaf. Only reason why there isn't five stars is because they don't have a bread slicer. Other then that the bakery goods are all fresh, made in house and yummy!

I hadn't been to this bakery for a while, and I was in the mood for a morning treat. I was walking around Independence, and decided to try this place again. The atmosphere is relaxed and cozy. The service was friendly as well. I selected an almond bearclaw and a pain au chocolate to go. Both were excellent. The pain au chocolate was nice and flaky, with no sogginess. The pastry and the chocolate both had great, rich flavor. The bearclaw was full of almond-y creaminess, and was delightful. Both were a nice size, not too expensive, and fresh. They have bread, coffee, and sandwiches also, and I will be trying more of their offerings, that's for sure. I am really glad I remembered this gem of a bakery! They made my morning!

Just wish they were opened longer hours. Vegan pumpkin choc cookies are outrageous! Really friendly staff.

One of the best spots in Independence. Everything is good. The owner & staff are kind. It's just a lovely place with lovely people. Giant sandwiches on thick slices of bread - highly recommend!

We arrived in Independence at lunch time and not knowing the local restaurants, we just started walking along the main street. Happened upon Ovenbird Bakery and the smell drew us in. We each ordered a sandwich - mine on sourdough, her's on wheat. Sandwiches are ample with all the fixins, but the bread is the star. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for the baguette we purchased for later that day. It had probably been sitting for several hours and when we cut it that evening, it was very dry and hard.

We LOVE this bakery in historical downtown Independence!!! ❤ GREAT everything - except...Parking! Which is often horrid!!! Sadly, We have had to go else many times!!! The only day parking is available is Monday when all of downtown Independence shuts down!!!
