French fries are always good! Rosemary Parm fries were even better! My husband got the flat bread and said it was delicious, I got the Mac & cheese which I wasn't a fan of... It was a bit bland but that was just my opinion. Beautiful presentation of all dishes!
Food was slow and 3/4 in my party didn't enjoy our dish. Service was slow. Indoor area can't accommodate 4 comfortably and my parents didn't want to be outside in the wind.
Had to order at the bar. No wait staff. No wine list. Ordered a charcuterie plate. It was disgusting. Old prosciutto yellowed on the edges. Strawberries instead of pickled veggies as advertised. Strawberries still had top on and not sliced. Walnuts and craisins? Mustard and two cheeses in broken chunks. This is the third and LAST time I eat here. Only good for the view of the river. Such a waste of a great hotel great view and awful food over and over again.
Had the chicken Marsala. Chicken was dry on the inside. Looked like a frozen piece of chicken you would get at McDonald’s. A lot of seasonings on the outside of the chicken but still made the meat bland. As for the noodles they were cooked with a great tenderness and not soggy. Th sauce that was prepared with the noodles you could tell was a prepared sauce mix that only needed heating that drounded out the flavors it was supposed to enhance like the mushrooms. Not pleased. But what do you expect when you’re at a 3 star hotel that is trying to have a 5 star restaurant.
Went to dinner with a party of 10. Wasn’t told you couldn’t split the bill with a big party, some of us had only ordered a side of fries which were $7. The waiter came back with our bills of $40 split between everyone at the table but didn’t tell us ahead of time. We explained it wasn’t right and we should’ve been told before hand- the waiter than reply’s with “there’s nothing I can do about it now”. No apologies, no offer to ask the manager to fix it. He leaves with everyone’s cards, 5 minutes later the manager comes with the same bad attitude. Asking what our issue was, making it more of a scene than it should’ve been. She didn’t seem to understand that someone who bought a $7 side of fries shouldn’t have been paying $40 as their bill. Eventually she agreed to fix it- still with the worse attitude. After we all paid- she than accused us of ordering two glasses of wine that weren’t paid for. Which our table never ordered any wine. The other big party next to us also didn’t know about the bill split and wasn’t happy with it. They also were the table ordering all the wines. Food was good & atmosphere was good. Loved the outdoor heaters. Customer service isn’t worth going back. They unfortunately lost a lot of potential customers.
Went in for just a drink to check the place out. The girl at the front desk as you enter, Karli, was an absolute angel. Super sweet, showed us to the restaurant and Isaiah at the bar made an absolutely perfect dirty martini. Absolute kudos to those two, Really great service.
Nestled away in Independence, OR is this fantastic little gem, The Territory restaurant located inside the Independence Hotel.
The service was great. The outdoor patio seating was very cozy with a beautiful view of the Willamette River.
I had the Fall Territory Salad made with roasted butternut squash, slices apples, feta with mixed springs, and grilled chicken.

Such a beautiful location but they have cut way back on staff. We placed our order at the bar for our dinner. The food was very good but the portion was quite small. We hope they are able to get their mojo back. It should be a busy vital restaurant, as the setting and facility are great.

I'm not sure this even qualifies as a restaurant anymore. They don't have anything other than appetizers on the menu.
It used to be so good, we went here often. This time we left after they told us we had to order at the bar, and then we sat down and looked at the menu. There wasn't a single thing that appealed to either of us.
The view is still nice, but unless all you want is appetizers and drinks, but no waitstaff, don't bother.

Had a wonderful time here while passing through Independence. Food was great, the view of the river is gorgeous, and it was just a really comfortable and relaxed environment. Despite how busy it was at the time, we were able to get quick service, so huge shout out to Kelly our bartender at the time for keeping up on things and carrying some entertaining conversations while we enjoyed our time here. Thank you!!

This place used to be amazing. When the hotel first opened, they had great service and food. We used to come here often. Then, they priced themselves out of business at some point to where it was unaffordable to eat here. Now, it’s basically a self service appetizer establishment. It’s a shame, this used to be one of the nicest restaurants with an amazing view in Polk county. Hopefully they can eventually get some management in here that can turn things around.

Great view of the River. Food is good, but new owner is focusing on small plates, so not many larger entree options and no burgers. I wish they would bring back the burgers! They were so good!
We were told the restaurant doesn’t have parking by 3 staff members and we had to move our car so we refused to eat some where we aren’t wanted
Went for dinner for the first time last night. It was so delicious. Kelly the bartender made us drinks and was super friendly. The food was fast and very fresh. Great first visit and will return again when in town.

Brought an out-of-town guest to dinner at what I previously considered finest restaurant in Polk County. Ordering at the bar from a dramatically reduced menu does not work! Nor does being so understaffed the dishwasher also has to act as a waiter! Food still tasted great and while I appreciate the challenges that must accompany operating a hotel/restaurant in a small town, this current concept is not a path forward in my view.
