We’ve been here a couple of times—first visit was great, but last night was disappointing. Went before a concert at the Britt Pavilion and were happy there was hardly a wait. Service was decent, but unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to make up for our disappointment with the food.

The garlic knots had very little flavor—my husband even wondered if they had forgotten the garlic entirely. margarita pizza had barely any basil and just raw tomato slices on top, and the pesto pizza special had little pesto flavor and very few sun-dried tomatoes.

We left wishing it lived up to our first visit.

We stopped by after a hike. It was about 6 pm. We ordered, they brought our drinks and a very pale not quite cooked?? Loaf of cold bread, and a scoop of hard butter?? I ordered the tortellini with meatballs and the husband ordered the fettuccine Alfredo. I expected the tortellini to be store bought, but the meatballs were also frozen, a drizzling of sauce. It was dry pasta, mushy meatballs . I wish I could say that it was just mine. The husbands Alfredo sauce was flavorless and soupy. We spent $80 and it was by far the worst meal we had on our trip.

This is one of the rare restaurants where you can walk in the door and feel right at home. The hostess greeted us and when I mentioned that we were a small group, immediately started setting up for us. We ended up in two different locations but the service was very fast and accommodating. They went out of their way to take care of our group. My companion had half a turkey sandwich and said it was excellent. I had a small Zorba which is Greek toppings on Italian crust. The first bite put a smile on my face for the rest of the day. I had checked other restaurants online before we went so I know that even if a little high the prices were in line with the area. If we go back to the area, this will be our lunch stop.

It is worth making the trip out from wherever you are in Southern Oregon just to eat at Bella Union. We had a lovely lunch of Mediterranean salad and veg pizza, with rose from a local winery. Very attentive wait staff, and lovely people watching view!
