We had a great meal and beer at 1188 Brewery on my birthday. We were visiting the John Day Fossil Beds for birthday and we found the town of John Day nice place to visit.
This place is legit. We were doing a camping trip and passed through this town. Decided to give it a try. Appetizer, the roasted brussel sprouts are a must. My husband had the jalapeno burger and enjoyed. I had the Mac and cheese with pulled pork. I have to tell you, it was a solid choice. It was the best Mac and cheese ever. They had a great selection of NA beer, which we enjoy. I'm assuming their regular beer selection is great too. The service was friendly. They were family friendly. Soup to nuts, this place was amazing. If you are going to be close, you won't be disappointed.
Super nice local restaurant and brewery. We had an excellent steak and a fresh and delicious salad. My husband and son enjoyed several different kind of beers as well and were positively surprised. If you want good value for your money and excellent service this is the place to be. Even for three Dutchies on a road trip.
Food was very fresh and the service was great. They even brought out a bowl for the dog
Great restaurant! The service is excellent and the food is delicious and high quality. Highly recommend!
The French Dip with truffle fries were awesome. But my favorite was the Basil & Mint Lemonade!
Awesome place. Very friendly bartender, tasty food, and good beer.
It was crazy busy when we were there Father's Day weekend. Short staffed as I recall and the 2 wait staff busted their butt to get everyone served in a timely manner. Yummy food and tasty brew.
Friendly staff, great food, cool and relaxed atmosphere. Would eat here again the next time i find myself here.
Amazing food, perfectly cooked (med rare) NY steaks, great people and outstanding mixology on the cocktails. Don't miss out on this place...it's a must stop.

1188 catered an event i had Tuesday evening and it was amazing! Food was delicious, (A Taco Bar and Rollups) and the Beer and Cider were really good! I highly recommend them for catering as well as their restaurant. Thank you 1188 crew.
We loved it here! After a really long and fun day exploring we enjoyed a couple wonderful craft beers and the best quesadilla ever!!
Good food. Good service. Prefer a different kind of playlist or else would give a higher rating. The music genre of alternative rock doesn’t really fit the atmosphere in my opinion.

What a wonderful place! John Day Oregon was a hidden treasure; we were here for helicopter wildfire support and it amazes me how going somewhere new (to me) can turn into a place that causes the heart & soul to yearn to visit again. We had the pleasure of getting based in John Day twice this summer, thankfully. On our first day we went to 1188 Brewing. I am relieved that the first place we attempted to have lunch at was closed, so we shuffled to 1188; the experience was superb, so It became a regular stop while we were there. The food, the drinks (when we were off duty, of course), and the service was phenomenal, especially in large part thanks to Étoile, who really lives up to her name. She is a Star! The kitchen staff were also rock stars, churning out fabulous food including The French Dip, which was a constant choice of at least one of our crew. Also, the spicy shrimp penné and the mac/cheese were also exceptionally good. 1188 has a wonderful beer selection as well (we loved the Affenschlag and their Geil Schmetterling-you will have to look up the translations of those two!), and their custom cocktails were truly enjoyable, my particular favorite is The Fire Line, and the Black Gold Fashion was also quite satisfying. I hope to come back some day in the not-so-distant future, and visit this fine establishment again (and again!). Thanks, John Day, Oregon, and thanks, 1188!

The hand cut fries looked good, but they weren't fresh.
