Good food. Good service. Prefer a different kind of playlist or else would give a higher rating. The music genre of alternative rock doesn’t really fit the atmosphere in my opinion.

What a wonderful place! John Day Oregon was a hidden treasure; we were here for helicopter wildfire support and it amazes me how going somewhere new (to me) can turn into a place that causes the heart & soul to yearn to visit again. We had the pleasure of getting based in John Day twice this summer, thankfully. On our first day we went to 1188 Brewing. I am relieved that the first place we attempted to have lunch at was closed, so we shuffled to 1188; the experience was superb, so It became a regular stop while we were there. The food, the drinks (when we were off duty, of course), and the service was phenomenal, especially in large part thanks to Étoile, who really lives up to her name. She is a Star! The kitchen staff were also rock stars, churning out fabulous food including The French Dip, which was a constant choice of at least one of our crew. Also, the spicy shrimp penné and the mac/cheese were also exceptionally good. 1188 has a wonderful beer selection as well (we loved the Affenschlag and their Geil Schmetterling-you will have to look up the translations of those two!), and their custom cocktails were truly enjoyable, my particular favorite is The Fire Line, and the Black Gold Fashion was also quite satisfying. I hope to come back some day in the not-so-distant future, and visit this fine establishment again (and again!). Thanks, John Day, Oregon, and thanks, 1188!

The hand cut fries looked good, but they weren't fresh.

The food was good enough, but it took an hour to get a burger.

We ate here because of good reviews on our way through town to a camping trip and it was so good we made sure to eat here on our way back through as well! Great food and service! I wish we had this little gem in our hometown!

Loved the Gnomo De Fuego stout, and the fish on my fish and chips was beautiful.

I had lunch here yesterday. The cheeseburger was delicious and the tap beer wonderful. I was really impressed with my server, Chantel, who was very professionally handling the entire place.

It was fairly quiet when I arrived but picked up later. The Trailbender IPA was excellent, very West Coast. Food was good and well presented by a very friendly server who took the time to answer my many questions. A cool place in a small town. Very impressed and wish I had another day to hang out

We had a steak. It was okay not great. Fries were soft. The jalapeno burger was not spicy at all. Jarred jalapeno. Needed seasoning. The server was great. Atmosphere was nice. Bathrooms were clean and painted interesting.

Parking: We had a hard time finding parki6.

All was great! Huge shout out to the staff. They were friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and made the great beer and food even better! Look forward to next time I visit John Day and 1188!!

Wheelchair accessibility: John Day is in the process of upgrading ALL its crosswalks with ramps, so getting to 1188 is doable, and the main entry is level.

Stopped for a quick bite to eat while on the Giant Loop Rally. We had the Thai peanut wings and the stuffed jalapeno. Both were excellent, bf had a local IPA and I had a local CBD Blood Orange drink that was excellent. Our server was great, knew the menu and made great suggestions.

More than just a brew pub - a good restaurant in it's own right. We ate there on a Tuesday evening & the place was busy and full. Good atmosphere & people were cheerful. The food was good: we had spaghetti and Alfredo pasta and split a house salad between the two of us. The raspberry lemonade and brewed ice tea were just right.
