What an exquisite and charming find! Who would have thought you could find a true FIVE STAR restaurant in “No Man’s Land” between John Day and Canyon City! Brenda, the owner is an amazing restaurateur. Top notch all the way. You will not be disappointed with your visit to The Snaffle Bit Dinner House!

Food was great service was great , but the only disappointment for me was the political opinion push and my broken sauce with my Tenderloin! Met and talked with the owner who is the only galley Chef and Sous Chef. Flavors where outstanding and her abilities to run that kitchen by herself is by far the most impressive performance by any Chef or owner I have come across in a very long time!!! Outstanding! Thank you! I can't wait to return! She's selling bye the way!

We had the privilege of being in John Day, Oregon during this summer's wildfire season. A fine server from another establishment in town recommended The Snaffle Bit Dinner House and boy-are we glad she did and that we went to try it out for ourselves. It was fantastic, all five within our party were well fed and more than satisfied with quality, value, variety, and flavor. Brenda is amazing! She cooked up some of the best food I have ever eaten, and being the old boomer that I am, I have been to three continents and all of the major so-called food capitals on the globec(NYC, Paris, Rome, Tokyo, Seoul, and son on) but here I was in John Day, Oregon and talk about serendipity! Our meal was so good, that we decided to go back the following night and have a run at it one more time. Consistent quality, once again-Brenda is in a class all by herself. Her waitstaff was equally fantastic (props to Rowdy and to Megan!), attentive, friendly, courteous, and helpful. Special thanks to Étoile for recommending this gem, you live up to your name!

Best dinner out in a very long time. I have hopped to have a meal like this every time we travel and eat out. Candidly the best meal for all of my family and is well worth the drive!

I wish there was more then 5 stars...This place is incredible, the food, the atmosphere and the service are all beyond the 5 star ranking. Go there, don't hesitate. I have know about this restaurant for more than 15 years and finally made time to go. What a treat.

Great food! The best service, too! I couldn't help but snap a picture of my husbands plate. I'd say they didn't skimp on the meat. Mine was also delicious and plentiful!

Come hungry. I ordered the burger and if I didn’t know better I would think it was a solid half pound hand made patty. The food came out quick too. Call ahead for reservations. I will add that the restaurant is very forthright with their political views and affiliations. So just be aware.

I never give out 5 star reviews but this one deserves it. My wife and I and 4 boys ranging from 1-13 went and everything that was ordered was incredible (minus the broccoli but who cares about that). I’ve had a lot of Ribeyes from all over this country and this was the best one I’ve ever had. I want to go through John Day again just to come eat here. We will be talking about this place for a long time. Truly a gem! Go out of your way to come eat here.

Always great food and service. A staple if you're in the area and want to sit down to eat. Copper Cricket is great. If possible, call to reserve a table in advance. Brenda and the staff are great.
