“If you want to feel like family and receive a warm greeting every time you walk through the door - Chicken is the place for you. Nick is a rockstar bartender! He does an amazing job of anticipating drink orders and keeps them coming, even if you're only drinking water. Food is excellent, service is excellent, and the bartenders are trustworthy, which is very important when you're playing the lotto machines and handing off your tickets. Chicken is our go-to bar and Nick is our favorite bartender in town! All the bartenders at Chicken do a great job of keeping a close eye on customers and I appreciate the safe atmosphere that Josh has worked hard to create. My only suggestion - purse hooks under the bar!“

“Cheyanne, the bar tender, was outstanding. Very attentive, friendly, and worked well, even with multiple orders. I had the ribeye, along with the included sprouts, potato, and salad. It arrived quickly and was very tasty. The couple next to me ordered cocktails and said they were the best. Highly recommend. Oh, and they have a Mocktail menu also.
UPDATE - never done an update on a review that I can remember, but this deserves it. The original review was 6 months ago when I was last here. Believe it or not, this time was also amazing and yes, Cheyanne was just as friendly and the food just as great. Salad with apples and figs photo added.
PS - I went to a local food truck for lunch and spent about half of what I did here, but this is way more than twice the quality, taste and serving size. So by comparison, a good value too!“

“Came up there for a three day retreat with a big adult group, we head rented many cabins almost a year in advance. We had one of the newer cabins, a one bedroom queen with two queen beds up in the loft. Beautiful cabin fully accommodated. Except for food bring your own😊 Check in was easy and smooth our reservations were made almost a year in advance. We were constantly reminded don't take anything from the cabin 🤔 we got it the first time we're just here for some R&R we're not thieves, They have a store where you can buy fishing accessories, chip, soda, beer, even a hot slice of pizza which isn't bad. You can also rent kayaks and pontoon boats, however, one very very short haired young lady working in the marina store and another lady waitress working in the restaurant, both seemed to have nasty attitudes and that was the consensus through out our group. I don't know how but we encountered a bat in our cabin up in the loft during midday, we flagged down a worker he came with a piece of cordboard and a bucket, made a suggestion to use a fishing net so he returned with two fishing nets. This resort not only has cabins for rent, there are hookups for campers and trailers and also a place for tents, highly recommend making advance reservations for cabins. They go fast, the prices are a little high even at the end of the season.
We had 4 people to a cabin splitting it, so it wasn't too bad.
There is so much to do here at lake of the woods. We explored the many hiking trails, most of us brought our own kayaks. You can rent kayaks, or pontoon boats or bring your own boats. There's great fishing. We got to see trout being delivered into the lake. They even have a nice restaurant with amazing views of the lake. We didn't have the best service, even with a dinner reservation for seventeen, we had to wait over 2 hours after ordering our food to get our meals and no, the restaurant was not busy. You are allowed campfires in the designated places at your cabin. Highly suggest bring your own firewood as a bundle of wood is $8. There is nothing like having a beautiful potluck dinner with friends and watching the sunset on the lake, roasting marshmallows over an open fire. Overall, this is a beautiful resort to visit, even if it's just for a day trip, we'll be back again next year doing our fifth annual trip.“

“My English mother was diagnosed with cancer and given 2-8 weeks. The one thing she wanted more than anything was real English fish and chips. She said she was in heaven when she tried yours. No where else was even close. You made a dying woman's dream come true.“

“This place has been in business for decades, very much a local hang, trophies on the walls for pool table wins and Championship s. It's very clean, nothing fancy, and has lottery tickets and lottery games you can feed your money in. Much like a sports bar with TV's and of course a few pool tables.Good cold Beer ?“

“We’ve been here multiple times alone and to meet friends. We always dine in the bar. The staff is wonderful, attentive & so friendly! If you are looking to save a dollar or two - come and order off the Lunch Menu or in the afternoon for the Happy Hour Menu. The main menu is always available. When you have a choice - order the shredded beef. Our favorites: Enchiladas ale Crema - chicken enchiladas covered with sour cream & Parmesan cheese. Street Tacos with Asada, onions & cilantro, Chile Colorado, Burrito Express, shredded beef flautas, & chicken tortilla soup! If the salsa with the chips is not hot enough for you, they’ll make something hotter! Needless to say, we’ll be back.“

“This place was wonderful! Some friends brought food to our vacation rental and it was so good that we had to go back and get more. This was some of the best barbecue that I have ever had! I had the Kansas City Barbecue and it was great. Not too sweet! The portions were great value. The staff was great! Very courteous and helpful! They even brought it out to me!“
