Hands down, some of the best brisket I’ve ever had. And I’ve had a lot of good brisket. I’m a Texas native and before moving to Oregon I lived in Louisiana for 12 years. I was just starting to accept that I would never find local BBQ as good as where I’m from. But I have to say Clay’s brisket and bbq sauce rivals with the best of them. Thanks and we’ll be back!

Amazing food and service. Always drove by this place and wondered about it. Finally went with my friends and we where all blown away. The level of customer service was outstanding and the quality of the food was perfect. The little things like toasting the buns in the sandwiches made it all that much better. The food came out crazy quick and Bill came out to check on us multiple times to see if everything was going good. We will all definitely come back! Thank you Bill and Sherry!

Best BBQ I've had in awhile!! So flavorful even without sauce, and super fast. You can order to go or eat in, and the people are super nice. Not too pricey either for some quality BBQ. I definitely recommend this to anyone that hasn't been.

This is a low key place that makes the best restaurant BBQ I've tasted since I left TN! If you like true southern smoked BBQ ribs, brisket, and chicken or pulled pork with fresh potato salad and southern style baked beans, potatoes wedges corn bread etc. They have it! Delicious. The portions are generous.

As with every restaurant it is a highly competitive business and some people go out to eat to find the best places and some people may not care but as a critic of taste, texture, and temperature this restaurant gets 4 stars. Their isn’t a oh wow 5 star review brand to this restaurant. I have tried other places for brisket and this restaurant comes close to being amazing but right now to me it is pretty cliche. 4 star review.

Barbecue is not my favorite type of food but this evening I didn’t want to cook. As I got closer to Clays on King Rd I saw the outdoor lights so decided to stop due to this businesses curb appeal. I am a new customer and will tell all my people about this wonderful restaurant, the food was amazing. I loved the coleslaw as it didn’t have a mayonnaise type dressing, it was different but very good. The chicken was well cooked but not dry, the Mac and cheese was very tasty and the corn bread just as delicious as my Mississippi mother’s cornbread. Only issue is allot of folks I know including myself did not know this restaurant was open and because of a tree there is a sign that is not visible from King Road.

Tried two bones of spareribs, in st.louis style.I ate them without any BBQ sauce, yet they tasted okay in flavor, just lacked some moisture as the meat was slightly dried out. I wish they could wrap the ribs for better tenderness.

I really enjoyed their food! Cute little space and was very peaceful eating outside. Collard greens were my favorite.

They continue to impress me with the flavor and taste!! The service is always incredible friendly, attentive and kind. Every time I eat here the food is so good! The meat is smokey and juicy- fall off the bone type stuff. Their BBQ sauce is my favorite too. The key lime pie is a must too. You have to stop by and try some of their food if you’re in the area, or get your event catered through them! Clays Smokehouse is the best BBQ in Portland hands down

Great place. Everything we had we greatly enjoyed. We got the combo box ribs and chicken and brisket box. Side were collard greens, potato salad, potato wedges baked beans. Went back and ordered Mac and cheese for our son. Definitely going back to enjoy more. Also the sauce is awesome

I loved Clay's when they were on Division back when dinosaurs roamed the two-lane, East-West arterial, before it was gentrified into the heinous mass it is now. It's since relocated to Milwaukie, under new ownership, but still making amazing barbecue! The ribs are unstoppable, the greens are vegetarian but they are tasty as hell, the atmosphere is quaint and neighborly, and you cannot miss a chance for some of the best Key Lime Pie I've had in the Portland metro. Go to Clay's.

Good meat and service. Recommend key lime pie. Sliced Brisket on the weekend is worth the wait.

Its good BBQ but its pricey for what it is... & The sliced brisket is only available on fri&sat... Or something like that. The bbq sauce tastes more like a spicy spaghetti sauce than bbq sauce. Other than that.... I liked the actual meats. We tried the pulled pork and the chopped brisket. Both by themselves were good.Im not saying that this place isnt worth trying cuz , "different strokes for different folks" . Meaning just cuz someone doesn't like it doesn't mean you wont like it. I think that if you like bbq as much as I do then you should definitely at least try clay's smokehouse.

There isn’t much good BBQ in Portland. Clay’s answers the call! I’ve gotten the ribs a few times and I love them. Their cornbread is excellent as well!
