I've been eating here for years but, the waitress want having a good day! Plus my son & I were the last there so, she didn't give him a cup of coffee, even though he asked for one. I LOVE THIS PLACE but my son is from Vancouver & probably won't go back. Our service was a lot to desire but maybe we caught the waitress on a bad day!
Liked the vibe and how local it was. Food was good, not great, and I think I should have ordered breakfast instead of a grilled chicken sandwich. The service is great and I think I would order breakfast next time as I found the sandwich pretty basic and not something I need to have again. Good place and I would not hesitate trying again, just order differently.
Breakfast was great! Waitresses very friendly. Love the country feel.
OMG! That was truly an Ultimate omelet!
It comes with gravy on top but I asked for it on the side instead. I did try part of my omelet mixed with the gravy. I will keep them separate, just not my preference.
BUT the gravy was amazing and I licked that bowl clean haha! The portion size was worth the cost. Thick sausage and bacon pieces, I did not really notice the ham. Veggies were spot on! Yum!
My husband got the Eggs Benedict. He was a happy man, especially with their twist on the Hollandaise sauce.
Great staff and atmosphere.
Offered only my husband coffee. I'm sitting there, like what about me?!

I really like this place for breakfast. Food is excellent. Prices are a tad high, but worth it for how good it is!

Paige the waitress recommended chicken fried steak omlette with cheese and gravy. Indulgence and deliciousness guaranteed. I managed 1/3 of the omlette.... pancakes were delectable, even better than they looked!
I could not have had a better breakfast! My companion had a bacon cheeseburger which he enjoyed and hot chocolate with what tasted to me like very fresh whipped cream.
Homemade goodness AND no doing the dishes! That's a two fer and why I am giving this place rave reviews!

Details below.Reason for rating:Service:1) Waitress was wonderful! Friendly, upbeat, and attentive without hovering. However, there's another element to service, and that is online expectations. I had looked up the menu before arriving to see if/how it had changed since I moved from Molalla. Their online pricing is grossly incorrect, and their response is that the online pricing is from the previous owner's when it was "Jill's Hitchin' Post," now it's "Gene's Hitchin' Post. Head's up... your customers don't care if it's Jill's or Gene's or Johnny's, or Jake's Hitchin' Post. In this age of technology, you need to keep your online points of reference accurate.Food:2) The waffle was just...awful. It tasted like they didn't make waffle batter that day and, rather than say that and allow me to order something different, they just put pancake batter in the waffle machine. The result was a doughy, rubbery, waffle textured disc that couldn't even be cut with a fork. I barely ate 1/4 of it, and it didn't stay down. The eggs were great. Bacon was good.I lived in Molalla for a number of years before moving to Washington. Recently (04/18/24), I brought my pet into town for a veterinary procedure and planned to spend the day revisiting some of my favorite spots around town while waiting for him.I always loved breakfast at the Hitchin' Post and had been looking forward to it for days. I looked up the menu online to see if/how it had changed. It looked to be about the same as I remembered.I dropped off my pet and headed over at about 8:45AM. There were three tables of people and one other customer standing and chatting. I sat at the bar so as not to take up a table and impact the server's income potential. I ordered the waffle breakfast with scrambled eggs and bacon. The bacon was good... nice and thick cut. The eggs were nicely scrambled. The waffle; however, was a rubbery, inedible disc that couldn't be cut with my fork, not the crisp, fluffy delicacy it should have been. I suspect they failed to make waffle batter and just put pancake batter in the waffle machine. It was disgusting. I couldn't eat it.After leaving, I drove around for about 20 mins, looking at how the town had changed when I started to feel unwell and got sick. Very disappointing considering how much I was looking forward to it.
