The vegan chowder was delicious. My meat eating friends all tried it and were envious. The vegan ice cream was delicious… had coffee caramel and a gluten free waffle cone!
I am in love with Thai Seafood Chowder, but today I had the Moroccan Lamb Chowder and thought I died and went to flavor heaven! Sooo good! We are so lucky to have this little gem of a Chowder place for ourselves and visitors to the Coast! Thank you!
Fun flavors!
Buttercup is very reliable for ice cream and makes some of the best soups you'll find on the coast. My favorite among the ice creams is burnt chocolate, which has a refreshingly bitter bite. The best soup is Malaysian fish chowder, but unfortunately they make it only during certain times of the year. It is inventive and comforting. The New England clam chowder is pretty good if you get the seafood add-on. The bad news is that there is a tendency to undercook the veggies in the soups, which leaves them tough and unsoup-y. This problem goes a way if you buy by the quart and then reheat. Note they're open only in the middle of the day Th-Su during the season and F-Su off-season.
Unfortunately had a pretty negative experience with the staff today. Rude and unfriendly. I'm bummed because I drive from Portland to get their frozen chowder to take home.
Left such a bad taste in my mouth I probably won't be coming back.
the MOST delicious corn chowder. flavors bursting in every spoonful!and very efficient and helpful staff 😁
Had their mojito sorbet and it was divine!
One of my favorite places to eat on the Oregon coast, the soups are incredibly fresh and the ice cream is home made and delicious. They always have gluten free options as well, including gluten free cones!
Great flavor selection. I got the marshmallow with the chocolate dipped graham cracker cone. Very nice and friendly staff. Overall great experience and tasty ice cream.
We tried a couple of soups and some ice cream flavors. I noted that the soups were very flavorful and did not appear to be as heavy as typical chowders. The consistency was thinner as opposed to typical thick style. I liked the taste and creativity of both chowders we tried. The stand out ice cream flavor was the burnt chocolate. It was excellent! Will return when I am in town.
Restaurantji Recommends
Highly recommend when you’re in the area. The chowders are comforting when you need it. The gelato is refreshing when you crave something sweet. Behind the shop is both a covered and outdoor area to enjoy.
The only thing I’ve tried that I wouldn’t recommend is the Vietnamese coffee.
Come here again & again.
I love this place. The chowder is delicious, salad excellent and ice cream choices are unique and tasty. The bread that comes with the chowder is so good. Order at the counter, seating out back - open air or covered deck. Service is on point. Go.
Cozy little place with amazing chowder and unique ice cream flavors.
Best chowders and ice creams anywhere
We popped in here for Ice cream after eating fish & chips (down the ally to the right of the building). We had the vanilla malt peanut brittle flavor ice cream on a house-made waffle cone. It was da bomb. The best ice cream I've tasted in decades. It really satisfied. I'm glad I don't live there or I'd keep going back because I could get addicted to it.
