We had high hopes for this restaurant after booking our reservation months in advance, expecting a memorable dining experience. Unfortunately, it fell far short of expectations.
From the moment we were seated, the service was unwelcoming. Our server was noticeably rude and made us feel uncomfortable throughout the meal. There was a lack of warmth or attentiveness that really set a negative tone.
The food itself didn’t redeem the experience either. Our order took a long time to arrive, and when it did, it was underwhelming. The steak was extremely chewy, the crab was dry, and the sauce that was prominently featured online wasn’t even included on the dish. Everything felt a bit off—not at all the high-quality meal we had anticipated.
To end on a positive note, we did find a gem just across the street and ended up dining there the following few nights. The contrast in service and food quality was night and day.
Sadly, I wouldn’t recommend this place based on our experience.
Hands down one of the best places in all of Oregon. A gem!!! If I could give 5 pluses I would. Exceptional!!!!!
This was our second visit to The Riverhouse. The first meal we had was actually really good, everyone enjoyed their meal (especially the Crab Mac n Cheese). This time, though, both my wife and I ordered the jumbo scallops with saffron risotto. The risotto was bland for both of us. I cannot imagine this was the case but both of us thought they forgot to add parmesan cheese...seriously, no flavor. The jumbo scallops were cooked perfectly, but bland. We asked for salt and pepper and the waiter brought it but didn't ask any questions. We then both complained that it literally had no flavor. The waiter nodded and went about his work.
For a restaurant like this at this price point, that should have been looked at. They didn't seem to care. Not sure we will go back.
This was such a huge disappointment. The service is subpar at best. The crowder was really good...however I had the Chipino, it had RAW SQUID that I actually spit back in the bolw. The broth was cold, and not much flavor. Told the waiter about it and asked him to remove it from my bill which he did. The sad part, he didn't offer any suggestions for a different meal. Won't be back...
I was surprised to find a restaurant this good in Pacific City. Excellent food and service
We had a wonderful dinner at Riverhouse. Clam Chowder and Ahi Poke Bowl were both terrific.
This is a MUST visit when on the Oregon Coast! MAKE A RESERVATION if you can! The restaurant is small and fills up VERY fast, sometimes days in advance. The Riverhouse Nestucca is by far the BEST restaurant in Pacific City. Their food is fresh, their servers are great and the atmosphere can't be beat! If you can't get a reservation, try to see if you can get it to go and eat at the picnic tables outside, its absolutely worth it! The food is the same just served in to-go containers. Pets are even welcome outside!
This place has a wonderful peaceful view. The service was great, attentive and friendly. Three out of four of us enjoyed the scallop dish. The scallops were cooked to perfection, however the risotto tasted like an Uncle Ben's cheesey rice. Overall still a great experience.
They have a different chef since June 2024 and it shows. The food is overall still very good but more fish & chips and burgers and less interesting or innovative dishes. Also, the dining space is small, and the restaurant frequently allows in one or two very large parties (8-12 people) that inevitably wind up talking so loud that everyone else is just silently eating their food and can’t wait to leave. If the Riverhouse wants to retain its distinctive reputation, it should politely refer parties larger than 6 (or even 4) to one of the other sports bars/brew pubs in the area, or else just let things go and become just another pretty good food stop.
Excellent

Great place to eat. A little cramped
Charming place, it is the spot for Lobster Mac & Cheese in the area. Such a hearty and amazing meal. I had the Line Caught Chinook and it was nearly raw, fish was incredibly deep pink all on the inside. When I told the waitress/hostess it was a little too raw for my liking the first thing she said was 'it's pan seared' not 'I'm sorry about that' - She loves her regulars but didn't find her to be too nice to us. I don't like raw fish, maybe I'm the problem. Portion of salad and my fish was teeny tiny. Still enjoyed, its super cozy.

Had dinner here with my girlfriend last night. It was one of the best culinary experiences we have ever had. I'm sorry, but your mom can't cook like this. The food is on a higher tier than you will find elsewhere on the coast. The space is so cozy and intimate. We will definitely be back

We almost drove past this quaint spot with absolutely delicious food. Highly recommend the crab Mac and cheese as well as the crab roll. Service was attentive and I would definitely come back. Hidden gem.

Really cute place. Great service. Full bar and nice wine selection. Pasta sauces are very hearty, not a great pick of you want something light. All delicious.
