I’d like to redo my review to account for the hard work it takes to run a restaurant and I have no doubt they are putting in that work.
Prices are too high for diner food. The menu hasn’t changed since new ownership except they vetoed some items. I’d recommend driving five minute up to Camp 18 for better food for the right price and superior customer service. When we went into The Elderberry, we were left standing an awkwardly long while before being seated (we were the only ones there), handed menus before she retreated back to the bar without a single word. I have been asked not to return to this establishment due to my dislike of the new ownership conduct when they first took over paired with this unfavorable review (which is not personal, all the above are facts of my experience, no “hate” or “racism” of which the owners have accused me of [very unprofessional]). I hope they see room for improvement and keep up the hard work!
Over priced for 4 cheese grilled sandwich and cup of chili. The 4 cheeses was maybe 4 slices of american cheese. The cup of chili looked and tasted like it was on a warmer all week. This was Sunday afternoon. Restaurant was not crowded but it took a long time to get our order of grilled cheese sandwichand cup of chili, 20 minutes.
If I would of walked into the bathroom before ordering, I would have left. My wife said the same for the woman's bathroom. 4 cheese grilled sandwich, $17.00, cup of chili, $9.00. Bathrooms dirty and smelled bad. The server was the only good thing.
We've been coming here for DECADES! The new owners are doing a phenomenal job. The best bloody Mary's and A+ food! Burgers, sandy, bar snacks, even the tamales, everything has been great! We love stopping here on our way to and from the coast!
Love the upgrades done! I saw a review about prices...and they are right in line with everything else. Definitely worth it.
Revising a very old prior review:
Business was sold to a new owner over a year ago, and I haven't been back since that change. Consequently, I can't speak for the current status of this establishment. I'm not changing my stars because that wouldn't be fair. I'll update if/when I go back.
Yummy comfort food and friendly staff and service in a unique location
Perfect place for large parties. The owner and friendly staff, like Joel the bartender can create a custom menu and experience to your needs. Clean bathrooms, good bar and wide range of food options. Great place for a kickoff event abefore a weekend of hiking or exploring the coast.
Stopped by the elderberry
I ignored all the negative reviews
Good thing I did food is cooked perfectly the waitress Tera was sweet and very attentive to not just me but everyone around me she paid attention to detail.
And very clean, not only that I was spying on the chefs and they were all dressed in uniform very professional , good job elderberry !! coffee, and water a little bit more coffee probably will
above my expectations!
I love the Elderberry! Service is always top notch, and the food is amazing. The bartender is awesome and can make just about any drink with a smile on her face! The owners are very friendly and outgoing, he made my experience so much more fun! Can’t recommend this place enough!
Dirty, grill dirty, burnt things on French toast and eggs, broken yolks and everything cold.
My man & I made the trip from Newberg to have lunch at Elderberry Inn. It was a total walk down memory lane for me…. Last time I was there was when I was about 5 or 6 with my grampa (I’m nearly 70 now). What fun it was to walk into the sweet place I remembered.
A super friendly staff member (turned out to be our server) greeted us at the door with a warm welcome & helped us make lunch choices. Service was over the top, our chili burger (what always had with grampa!!) & deluxe chili burger were wonderful!!! And plentiful!!! (We took leftovers home).
We chatted with the lady in the booth behind us who ordered a chocolate stuffed Belgian waffle… it looked incredible, and she raved about it!!
Our server, Joel, was theeee best!!! Friendly, knowledgeable, funny, handsome and professional. Thanx Joel!!!
We’ll definitely be back!!!

Delicious Club sandwich on rye. Great meal!
The owners make me feel like family, and do a remarkable job cooking healthy, delicious food. A favorite is stuffed cabbage rolls. There are details like micro green herbs that add a special touch. I love Elderberry! It was great having friends stay at the Inn for a week, too. Clean, set up well and attractive. I like how there are a few rooms, not a huge row of them.
Stopped in and placed an order to go I Asked how big the oatmeal was and she showed me a large container then brought out a small container once I ordered and paid. I’m sorry but 9$ for a tiny thing of oatmeal is crazy! Not to mention it was undercooked and couldn’t eat it.
Not what it used to be. Overpriced!
Arguably the worst meal of 2024. Steak sandwich had no flavor and was cold. Patty melt was inedible. Fries were good enough.
Owner was very nice, though, and the old timey ambience was appreciated
