We went to the Suttle Lodge wine tasting this week. Johan Vineyards was the featured winery. They had to do a quick pivot and do the wine tasting indoors because of an unexpected rain/hail storm. We were very impressed with the level of service, friendliness of the staff....and the OUTSTANDING food that accompanied the wines we tasted. We are locals from Bend who will definitely be back for another wine tasting event. If you're in the area or are local, don't miss out. This was a very pleasant surprise for us.

This place used to be high end and amazing! Now, the food is absolutely awful and we dont even want to go there anymore. We used to go once a month!

Recently returned from a two day one night day Suttle Lake Lodge for a little personal retreat. This is a very unique and special place. The staff are wonderful. Just a couple things to make it even better: The shower just had a curtain out of fabric, no liner so when I took a shower, The water ended up saturating the floor outside of the tub. A liner would be a wonderful addition. I was in room 106 and the Wi-Fi is pretty much nonexistent here. If you’re coming to do work and need the Wi-Fi I would inquire as to which rooms have better Wi-Fi strength before you book. Thanks for reading!

Beautiful cabin. I know this is an off the grid sort of stay but for multiple kids during the rainy/winter season. It's tough to keep them all entertained. No tv. No wifi in the cabins away from lodge. Mostly evenings were the most challenging. So def stay in the lodge itself. Summertime would be a lot better for a kids getaway in the cabins.

Remote, rustic lodge with friendly, generous staff and surprisingly high caliber cuisine. An abundance of outdoor adventures within 30 minutes of the lodge's location. We very much enjoyed our stay.

Food and drinks: The chef is clearly talented at assembling intriguing and complimentary flavors. The single bartender/server was attentive to all guests in admirable fashion.

Nice cabins , great view. Was too cold to do any fishing but the lodging and bar was awesome.

Rooms: We got cabin 1924 and was a large cabin with a lot of space . Furniture was nice . Kitchen was huge .

Came here for lunch on a cold wet day. Loved the atmosphere and ambiance. Had a cozy lodge feel. Kid friendly with board games. Solid burger and trout sandwich.

We are just leaving from a beautiful stay in a lakefront deluxe cabin. Highly recommend. We also appreciated the follow up from Kayla as we checked out. Beautiful setting even in the colder months.

Beware Booking Events

We're having family come into town for a bit of a reunion this spring and were looking around for a place to gather that showed off the beauty of CO. After having visited the lodge and loving the views of the lake, we tried to book an event there for a family gathering in the fall. Not anything big. 15-ish people for 4 hours. No other needs from them beyond the location.

Two major issues came up:

1) It took 3 MONTHS of back and forth with their event coordinator, Anne, to try to lock it in. It felt like she actively didn't want our business. Finally got a date and quote of $600 for 4 hours. After another couple of weeks of prodding her, was finally on the verge of getting the contract. I think. Except...

2) In that time, my fiance and I thought it'd be good to just say our vows during the family gathering since we'd have folks out here anyway. Save everyone a second trip. I mentioned this to Anne and she raised the quoted price from $600 to $2500 site fee, a mandatory $1500 minimum catering charge, and requirements to work with one of their dedicated coordinators which was even more $$$ on top of that. To reiterate, absolutely nothing had changed on our needs from the original quote except now they considered it a "wedding" which they apparently price gouge on.

Good thing there's no end of beautiful locations in the area for a family gathering.

We stayed here for 3 nights and I have to say we will not be coming back. At least not to the lodge. 370$ for a king bed room. The bed was so uncomfortable (great sheets and down blanket though) and for that high of a price I would expect some more amenities. No fitted sheet on the bed, no mini fridge so if you want left overs it better not need to be refrigerated. No tv(which I could live without but at that price I would expect a tv). The room is so incredibly basic. The only great thing about it is the view of the lake.

Now to address the food. It was so insanely over priced and everything is A la carte. Burger was 20$ with no fries available. The NY strip was 43$ and no sides. Not sure where they are getting these prices but they were a bit ridiculous. I will say the food was decent tasting but out of all the meals we had while we were in sisters, the lodge food was the least favorite.

Also the rental prices for the kayaks were unreasonable. 80$ for 2 people for 2 hours.

I want to say though, we had a decent experience here. Mel and Cavin were both very friendly bartenders and the lake was very pretty. Also the dog friendly environment was a blast. So many lovely doggos everywhere. But overall not worth what it cost to stay.

Make sure you bring everything you need as the resort does not have any store.

Walkability: Some food. 2 small restaurants. Swimming area was crowded even though water was green.

Food and drinks: Full bar inside. Hut style lunch area with small menu.

We had a blast renting kayaks and paddling out on Suttle Lake, and we were all very pleased to find that you could order sandwiches and cocktails at the lodge and eat in the shade at the tables outside. What a beautiful and relaxing day!

This is for the little Boat House eating area. Apparently the "Lodge" dining area is not available for lunch. We went to the lodge first, but he referred us to the boat house.

I definitely would not recommend or go back again. You would be better advised to go 5 more miles to Clear Lake Resort, or the 10 minutes it takes to go back to Black Butte Ranch. Those places have burgers and sandwiches with fries or a side that are less expensive, taste better, and have a much nicer ambiance.

Here's what you get at the Boat House at Suttle Lake.
Orders are taken at the register.
Orders are ala carte.
Prices are high. ($13 for a burger only, $17 for a turkey and ham sandwich only - no sides)
Food is VERY mediocre and served in a cardboard food boat.
Seat yourself.
Serve yourself after they yell out your number from the counter.
Get your own water, napkins and plastic utensils.
Then you are requested to bus your own tables.

Obviously not a restaurant. Just a plain little fast food place with restaurant prices.
