Nice joint but food really underperformed. Everything processed and frozen except eggs I think. Food ice cold and undercooked even though is pre cooked is a hard accomplishment. I really don't like bombing a review but this was equivalent to cafeteria food if that. Nice people but food could be 10000x better across board. Also 45min wait time on a call in is rough. Sorry if this is to direct but frfr, hot case is light years better than this.

Hometown atmosphere, great wait staff, good comfort food at a reasonable price. We eat here often. Come hungry they have large portions!

EDIT 10-22-2022: I was here for breakfast last weekend, the new owner has the same items listed on the menu, however the prices are higher and the portion size has shrunk considerably. If I can finish my whole portion of the dish I ordered (ordered it many times prior), the size has shrunk.

I noticed the other plates being sent out had smaller portions than before. I've been coming here since before the last owners (Boyd's) bought it and I've ordered almost everything on the menu and some of them multiple times.

Still not too bad of a value, just the hometown atmosphere seems diminished. I'll try it again to make sure it wasn't a fluke. I'm afraid it wasn't.

EDIT 10-26-2024: I went back and looked at my timeline to see when I edited this (it popped up on it's anniversary) and I realized two things:
I neglected to put the original edit date in when I edited it
AND
I realized I have not been back to get a second impression. I need to do that soon.

The quintessential idea of a diner. They knock it out of the park for just your classic diner fare. No experiments, no foodie nonsense at a price that's incredibly fair for what you get.

Very delicious and well priced Americana. The Reuben, patty melt, and chicken fried steak are some of our favorite standouts, and the soup of the day is typically a hit as well, especially the hamburger soup. Everything is cooked perfectly, including specific requests for eggs, and the wait staff has been very friendly and supportive, especially for families with kids. One of the best spots in all Springfield, and a favorite we visit on a weekly basis.

Parking: Part of a lot with several other businesses.

Kid-friendliness: Amazing for kids. Friendly staff, toys/coloring activities, and good food options

Wheelchair accessibility: Completely flat interior, no steps or raisers. Some tighter corners, but they all seemed wide enough for a standard wheelchair

We went there today, Sunday at 11am. There was no waiting line, and the restaurant was only half full. We were told to wait for 25 minutes. Why?
When we were seated, the waitress did not greet us at all, just plopped down menus and silverware. Ten minutes went by before she took our order: 2 2 egg ham and cheese omelets, hashbrowns and english muffins, 1 iced tea, 1 Coke.
One hour and 15 minutes went by till we got our food. It was cold and tasteless.
Waitress never checked back. We left no tip, will never, ever go back. EVER !!

I used to love going here when the old owner was around but ever since they reopened, i haven’t been able to eat there. I went multiple times at 1:30 hour and half before they close, all the times I went they are closed early/ stoped seating. May i suggest they change their hours to 2 instead of 3 because I work in the restaurant biz and we stop seating at the earliest 30 or 15 minutes before close.

After searching for an edible breakfast in the Eugene/springfield area at 7:00am, and stumbled upon this…beacon of hope known as “the busy bee” . Draped in Coca Cola decor, Elvis paintings, and classic country diner vibes, I felt welcome as soon as I stepped in. Beards and hats are more than welcome at the Busy bee, and that’s fortunate for a bearded, hatted gentleman like myself and many of the patrons. We were seated by a young woman who was friendly and kind and happy to assist us in picking what to eat. We settled on chicken fried steak and a slice of strawberry rhubarb pie. The food came fast and fresh. Everything was homemade and wonderful. The service was excellent and I can’t wait to come back. Our waitress went the extra mile to make sure we had a nice meal. I can’t thank her enough for her kindness on a day we really needed someone to be kind. Five stars, only because It won’t let me give more than that.

Breakfast was good although the banana pancake tasted like pumpkin spice. Service was attentive, food came hot.
